Kids in the kitchen, and our favourite recipe with my son

Kids can start getting to know the kitchen at a very young age. Don’t think the little ones don’t care about the world of the kitchen or they don’t understand things.

The youngest ones can't help us yet, but they are interested in their mother's activities and the ingredients. So let’s safely plant the baby in the kitchen in the high chair while we cook, he will be watching us with interest.

Children’s early introduction to culinary tasks can teach them to appreciate food, and as adults grow up they will likely prefer healthier foods made at home rather than fast food.

Kids 2-3 years old can already perform minor tasks, such as mixing food, adding ingredients, or even slicing vegetables. Never give children a sharp knife for slicing, use a blunt-edged plastic knife for children that can’t hurt themselves, but they can slice soft things with it.

Joint baking-cooking is not only good fun and quality time spent together but also develops the child’s skills.

  • -Improves fine motor skills

  • -increases attention and concentration skills

  • -Working together with the child can be not only a joy, but also a sense of success.

  • -It can also be called team building work, or rather a real mother-kid program. It makes the relationship between parent and child more positive and intimate.

  • -The positive of a longer-term task is to encourage the child to persevere. You have to finish one thing, the process lasts from start to finish. This can't be thrown in the corner if he gets bored of it. Here the family is waiting for lunch, it must be finished! (Of course, if the child does not want to continue the task, do not force it)

I have a 2.5 year old son and we know a recipe that we make together every time. The recipe comes from a friend of mine. Unfortunately, the friendship is over, but the recipe has been our joint recipe with Bence ever since because it is very simple.

Ingredients:

1 mug sugar

2 mug fluor

1 mug milk

1/2 mug sunflower oil

1 sachet of baking powder

1 egg

300-500 grams of cherries -The amount of cherries I have depends on what packaging I find in the store, now I have used 500 grams, but 300 grams is also enough.

It is very simple to prepare, mixing the ingredients in a bowl except for the cherries.

If your child isn’t doing something well, don’t scold or take the task away from him, but show him how to do it right, help him.

That doesn’t mean he can do what he wants, since I didn’t even allow Bence to put the can (which he holds in the photo in his hand) in the bowl.

Plus, it’s almost certain that the kid will be making a mess or dirt in the kitchen. That's why we don't scold him, but tell him, "It's okay, but we'll have to clean it up."

Place the cherries in a bowl, sprinkle a little flour on it, and shake well to bring the flour to each cherry. This is necessary so that the cherries do not sink to the bottom of the baking sheet in the dough. I use frozen cherries, I don’t thaw them.

Put baking paper in the baking tray so that the dough will not stick and we will be able to wash the baking tray much more easily. Pour in the mass and sprinkle the cherries evenly over it.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees, bake for about 30-40 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on the type of oven.

When our dough is done, wait for it to cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar and slice it.

It’s a really great recipe, it’s quick to make, easy to make, requires few ingredients and is really delicious.

Slightly older children can even make it on their own, but be sure to an adult supervise the baking.
