Caesar Montano as the lead role in the movie portraying Jose Rizal was like a simulation that shows how our National hero’s life was back then. Watching the movie gave me tons of emotions. It is an old movie but it is very good, I am very thankful that it was made so we can enjoy, watch, and understand what Jose Rizal have done for the Philippines. It emphasized Rizal’s great patriotism –to sacrifice his own life for the country.
The movie gave us flashbacks showing how Rizal was a genius, a doctor, a writer, a lover, and a family man that give justice to Rizal’s character portrayed by Caesar Montano. He and the rest of the cast did a spectacular job and dedication in producing the film. The characters and the actors were fitted perfectly. The movie has no dull moment due to the fact that Rizal’s story is simply outstanding and the actors never failed to portray perfect acts and portrayals. The supporting casts were so good like Jhong Hilario, Jaime Fabregas, and other casts that I forgot the names; they were acting in a natural and fluent way, making the flow of the story more understandable and clear.
However the story has a lot of plot twists. It was the reason why the movie gave me tons of emotions. Besides, some of the scenes in the movie are brutal and cruel, not suitable for kids. One of the cruellest scenes is the scene wherein a Spanish priest tried to rape a helpless Filipino woman. I think the movie was labelled as SPG by MTRCB because of such scenes that are not appropriate for kids. Nevertheless, I loved the scene where Rizal was shot and he did not even flicked, he was smiling and said something in Spanish. I felt the patriotism, the willingness to sacrifice even his own life for the country. His death is very historical and it is a masterpiece to see it in a movie.
Over all, the movie was splendidly great. The sense of pride as a Filipino to see such a masterpiece, to see how our National Hero lived and how brilliant, patriotic and loving he was. There is none like him. He is my National Hero. The movie is a great work of art. It was epic
