GENERAL PROTOCOLS SPACES #34 FEATURING JASON DREYZEHNER

Jason Dreyzehner, author of the VM Limits and Big Int CHIPs, recently joined the General Protocols crew to discuss his proposals for upgrading the Bitcoin Cash protocol. The VM Limits CHIP aims to increase the computational budget for BCH smart contracts, while the Big Int CHIP removes a limit on big integer arithmetic. Dreyzehner explained that the upgrades would allow for more complex contracts, such as decentralized exchanges (DEX) and prediction markets, while maintaining the network’s security and scalability. He also highlighted the importance of the utxo model, which enables parallel validation and makes BCH more efficient than global state architectures like Ethereum. Additionally, Dreyzehner discussed the benefits of zero-confirmation escrows, which can provide instant finality for transactions. The conversation also dove into the Chip process itself, all in all a must listen for those interested in next year’s possible upgrades. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNQK3Ula2Ao

CASHSCRIPT PLAYGROUND TUTORIAL VIDEO

A new tutorial video has been released to help developers get started with CashScript, a programming language for Bitcoin Cash smart contracts. The tutorial utilizes the CashScript Playground, a tool that allows developers to write, test, and debug their smart contracts in a simulated environment called MockNet. The tutorial covers various topics, including contract development, transaction building, and debugging, and features examples of simple and more complex contracts, such as a recurring donation contract. With the recent update to CashScript, developers can now use the playground to test and debug their contracts more efficiently, with features like line-by-line evaluation and error messaging. The tutorial is designed to help developers take advantage of these new features and improve their overall Bitcoin Cash smart contract development skills.
