How will the ban on downloading apps from Google Play Store affect Pakistani users?

The State Bank of Pakistan has suspended Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), a system of direct payments, after which Pakistani users can download applications (apps) from the Google Play Store using the money in their mobile phone account. Will not be able to load.

However, users will be able to download apps from Google Play Store through debit card and credit card.

In a joint letter written by the telecom companies operating in Pakistan to the federal government, it was pointed out that the suspension of this payment system will affect the services offered by global companies such as Google, Amazon and Meta in Pakistan. Services will be affected and the country's telecom and information technology sectors are likely to be affected.

Although consumers in Pakistan have the option of paying through credit and ATM cards, very few users in Pakistan who download apps from Google Play Store use this facility, while through DCB in the consumer's phone. With recharge, the telecom company deducts money for downloading an app and pays the international organizations through its bank.
