Tips for teaching students to care about the cleanliness of the school environment
Maintaining a clean environment is not only applied and carried out by our children at home where they live but also at the school where they study.
A clean, neat and beautiful school environment must be created so that the place where our children seek knowledge is clean and comfortable. To have it all, we need to teach love for the cleanliness of the school environment where he is studying and taught from an early age. Because, the cleanliness of the school environment is not only for teachers, principals, one student but for all, for the community and for the next generation of students.
Teaching students to care about the school environment is not an easy thing. It takes hard work, enterprising from all school residents. Need to provide an overview, motivation, how to create a clean school environment.
I am a teacher and currently our school is participating in a school environment cleaning competition through the ADIWIYATA SCHOOL program, namely ADIWIYATA SCHOOL is a SCHOOL that cares about a healthy, clean and beautiful environment
Below are some pictures of student activities when cleaning the school area where I teach in for the Adiwiyata School program
Prior to the existence of this program, we school members from students, teachers, principals, parents have done and invited students to protect the environment. After the Adiwiyata school program emerged, we continued to make some major changes, renovating, organizing, creating all aspects to create a clean school environment
To invite and teach students to love a clean school environment, special activities need to be carried out so that they will get used to it. Ways that we can apply, among others.
1. Giving Direction
Provide direction, views and assertiveness about the importance of maintaining the success of the school environment. Give, important points, goals, benefits when the school environment is well maintained. Because school is a place to learn. Of course we have to care for and maintain. A clean and tidy school environment will also help the spirit of learning
2. Habituation
"you can get used to it" this proverb teaches something that must be done repeatedly, support, remind, and every day. To get used to maintaining a clean school environment, it needs to be supported by reminders or prohibitions, writings on pamphlets that are hung around the school area. Provide trash cans throughout the school area. Different bins for different trash need to be provided. Organic, non-organic and bottles trash cans. All this is done so that students do as they have been set. From keeping from trash to throwing trash in the appropriate place provid
3. Remind each other
Those who are not used to throwing garbage in its place will definitely forget. The role of the teacher is to teach students to remind each other if their friends forget to throw garbage in its place. Provide an understanding, if the cleanliness of this school is a shared responsibility and all school members. So, it must be done together
4. Be a good example
Children will imitate what the adults around them do. The teacher should set an example of good behavior. Not only advising but also doing and inviting together with students. Children are usually easier to do what they see than what they hear
5. Student's parental support
All school regulations and programs to run well need to get support from students' parents. Don't think when your child cleans the school and class like a janitor or gets angry when your child is told to sweep and clean the school area.
Parents of students must teach the importance of a clean environment from their home so that he will get used to doing it at school or wherever he is. Without cooperation and mutual support, a clean, beautiful and tidy school environment will not be realized
6. Routinely clean the classroom
By teaching students to regularly clean their own classrooms, that cleanliness will be created. The class teacher can make a schedule for cleaning the classroom for students. It can consist of 5 or 6 students. They have to do it together so that the classroom will always look clean and pleasant
Don't forget to provide cleaning tools such as brooms, bells, mops, a place to collect water for watering plants in front of the class, etc. Without realizing it, this is a way of teaching classroom cleanliness and also teaching students to work together, being responsible for their duties
7. care about the cleanliness of the toilet
One of the most important and often overlooked places is the toilet. This place is the main and very important part of the school. If the toilet is clean, then the other parts are also clean and beautiful
If the toilet is dirty, it will be dirtier elsewhere. As a teacher, never get tired of reminding students to keep the toilet clean and flush clean after using it
And don't forget to wash your hands after defecating or urinating. Even though it looks trivial, this has a big impact on them and those around them
8. Cleanliness of places of worship
The school must provide a place of worship for all school residents. In schools that have worship programs in schools, the cleanliness of places of worship is very important. Clean and holy is the main thing in carrying out worship, so don't ignore it.
9. Creating a green, beautiful and cheerful environment
Keeping the environment clean is not enough just to care about the school environment. Principals, teachers invite students to create a beautiful environment. You can plant trees, flowers or vegetables along the school area
Utilize the vacant land around the school to plant, maintain and care for these plants
Grow all kinds of vegetables that one day can be enjoyed or sold. From here, students also learn to farm and appreciate work as a farmer
To achieve this, there must be a special program to hold tree, vegetable and flower planting activities on certain days. And the teacher can also invite students to bring their own plants from home
10. creativity, craft and art
Utilizing waste into valuable objects can be done by utilizing waste that can be used as useful objects.
It takes skill and willingness to make the waste that has been thrown away to be used to make beautiful crafts. Such as crackle plastic, plastic spoons, coffee cups, instant noodle cups, newspapers, packaged rice containers, drink bottles, etc
To do this, the teacher can guide you and watch videos on how to make crafts from these materials.
11. Make a class cleaning competition
To make students more enthusiastic in maintaining a clean environment. There is nothing wrong with the school holding a class cleaning competition. Which aims to motivate students to further improve the cleanliness of the class. The cleanliness competition between classes can be seen from the cleanliness, class design, compactness, etc
12. Campus Service day
To do the things mentioned above takes a long time and a long time. 30 minutes is not enough. The school can provide special days in order to get maximum and satisfying results. This campus dedication day specifically provides time to clean the school area more thoroughly. The choice of days can be done at the end of the week such as Friday or Saturday
Time duration can be 1 to 2 hours. And in addition, the other days before studying have also been cleaned. Then, a beautiful clean and tidy school environment will be realized
Those are some things that can be done to teach students to take care, care, care for and love school. All of that must be used to and it all starts from home. Sincere and sincere is the main key everything will be created as we
