World Water Day !
World water day, celebrated on March 22 each year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater. World water day is celebrated and creates awareness about 2.2 billion people who lack access to safe water. It's about taking steps to deal with the global water crisis.
Groundwater is the water that is found in the underground soil, sand and rock in cracks and Spaces. It is stored in and moves slowly through the geological forms of soil, sand and rocks called aquifers.
More than 50 percent of the population of the United States depends on underground water for drinking water. Groundwater is also one of the most important sources for irrigation. Unfortunately, groundwater is sensitive to pollution.
Land pollution occurs naturally as a result of spreading pollution into underground water bodies called aquifers. Compounds of arsenic and fluorine are formed in water bodies under certain conditions which are the major source of land pollution. EPA reports that about 16,000 chemicals spill every year. With difficult cleaning procedures, often these chemicals are washed into the soil and find their way into our valuable groundwater resources.
We should protect groundwater from pollution and use it sustainably while balancing the needs of people and the planet. The key role of groundwater in water and sanitation systems, agriculture, industry, ecosystem and climate change adaptation should be reflected in sustainable development policymaking. Dispose of all waste properly; Do not throw the chemical into the ducts or the ground.
Thanks.
