Japanese food: Salmon Chan Yaki (Steamed fried salmon with vegetables and miso paste)

We will teach you how to prepare "Chan Chan Yaki" with sea fish salmon in autumn. It is a traditional steamed Hokkaido dish that also uses vegetables and miso paste. Adding mushrooms and potatoes can make it even more appealing with the autumn flavor.

Materials (for 4 people)

4 pieces (400 g) salmon

1 potato

300 grams of cabbage

1/2 or half an onion

150 grams of mushrooms

(Sauce)

Miss 3 tablespoons

1 tablespoon sugar

2 tablespoons water

20 grams of butter

A little salt, pepper and oil

Preparation method

Add salt and pepper to make the salmon pieces delicious. Peel a squash, grate it and cut it in half lengthwise. Boil for 15 minutes.

Cut the cabbage into 3 cm squares. Slice 1 cm thick along with onion scales. Cut the boiled potatoes by 1 cm. Then cut the mushrooms into convenient shapes to put in the mouth at once. If you have a large mushroom like shiitak, cut off the stem at the end and cut it in half like an umbrella. In the case of a bunch of mushrooms like Shimeji, cut off the root part and separate the bunch into smaller parts.

To make miso paste, put miso in a small container and mix it well with sugar. Add half the water and keep mixing till the miso grains are mixed. Now add the rest and stir in the same way.

Heat a little oil in a large frying pan and place the pieces of salmon facing the skin. Heat over medium heat. If the fish turns a little brown on one side, turn off the flame.

Place small pieces of butter around the fish pieces. Then add onions, potatoes, mushrooms and cabbage. Pour the miso paste on top.

Give one layer of aluminum foil. Make sure that the steam does not escape by pressing the foil around the edges of the frying pan.

Let the oven burn again. When the frying pan is hot, reduce the heat and steam them for 10 minutes. Place on a dining table with a frying pan and serve directly from there.
