Our initial thoughts carry us to France when we speak about great brandy. Of course, while France doesn't make great brandy, they make great cognac. It is so obvious that Cognac is to brandy what Champagne is to sparkling wine.
But, if we go down this road and talk about great brandies, then, aside from the Cognac of France, Spain makes the best brandy, it will take us to Spain.
Formerly a Spanish colony, the Philippines were, thus, the only serious RU makers in Asia. So it's no major shock that they will want to take brandy right from their hand?
In the Philippines, Emperor Brandy
Though Tanduay's history goes back to colonial times, Emerador has a history that is far more recent.
When it came to brandy, the Philippines was apparently a barren wasteland before 1990, so Emperor was launched as the first brandy product in the world. As it turns out that the Philippines really like their booze, this turned out to be a very smart decision!
Emperador was the world's highest selling brand of brandy in 2006, selling 300 million liters a year by 2015. If you take into account that this is almost entirely in the Philippines, so you really have a certain background.
Are there any Emperor Brandy variations?
Emperador Light-You can see this next to the usual Emperador, and although it has some sort of follow-up, it's just not all that impressive. It is just not worth it, at only 27 percent.
A 30 percent premium brandy distilled in Spain, Emperador Deluxe. Honestly, I've never seen Emperador Deluxe anywhere before.

Is Emperador Brandy the world's best?
Okay, well, let's get a little technical here, then! "Instead of simply "brandy," the label of the Light variation identifies the product as "Premium BRANDY Liqueur This is because, like sweeteners and sugar cane, they incorporate other crap. It's not even even a true brandy by this description.
It is not all that nice, taste wise, and you would need a lot of coke to make it palatable. I have never seen Emperador Brandy drink hot water from a brandy bottle. And to say that you do.
It is by far the greatest sale, however. It accounts for 50 percent of the Filipino liquor industry in the Philippines alone. There are a hundred million Filipinos, and they all love a drink.
