Am sure you are wandering the Ember month, let me give you a quick definition of Ember from the Oxford english dictionary. Ember month simply means a period of heightened or intense activity. The Ember starts from September up to December.

Every Nigerian knows what the Ember month is about even little children, people becomes apprehensive the atmosphere becomes tense . No doubt the Ember month ushers in more activities in the private and corporate sectors around Nigeria bringing an intensity in human activity.

  • The Ember month in Nigeria can be described as both interesting and scary. There is a popular belief that Ember months is a tragic period that spiritually jinx lifes and this belief has come to stay in the consciousness of people. Every prayer session and song is channeled on asking God for protection from the "village people "🤣 (evil one) and the dilemma the enemies have caused , while requesting for mercy to see the new year. For every Nigerian including myself this prayers are effective and strengthen us.

Now to the interesting part of Ember where everyone gets to go for "Owanbe"(party) and enjoys bottom pot Nigerian jollof rice and the Christmas rice and chicken with cold drinks to wash it down, like they say 😂. Buying new clothes for Christmas and new year is also a signal of the Ember month because a lot of people travel to celebrate the end of the year with thier families and "they must to harmer" (look their best) . It is said that we reserve the best for the last, the Ember month ushers in the best sales within the year which is the Black Friday and giveaway on most social media platforms by benevolent individuals.

Welcome to the last of the Ember months, December, do drop your comment on interesting ,weird beliefs, and attitudes during the Ember Month in your country and locality.

Happy New Month 🎊
