Syvash, also known as the Putrid Sea or Rotten Sea is a large system of shallow lagoons on the west coast of the Sea of Azov and is famous for its medicinal properties.
Water enters the reservoir from the Azov Sea and the shallow water evaporates, leaving numerous minerals and concentrated nutrients, such as potassium, magnesium, bromine and sodium. The area of the lake is composed of a dozen bays and beaches, and in the summer they are covered with salt. The density of the bottom sludge exceeds 5 meters, and salinity varies from 22 to 88%.
