Not long ago, I had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in ten years. In the past few years, as I moved around, we gradually became alienated.
However, even if we no longer really "understand" each other, our conversation is still smooth. Unexpectedly, I thought it seemed to be a 15-minute conversation, but it lasted two hours.
I am very happy because he and I have something in common in a field of common interest: we have all bid farewell to the wild and crazy days of our youth and embarked on the path of personal transformation. We all live in a world of service to others.
Obviously, he is full of enthusiasm for a personal growth seminar that he attended many years ago. Every time I asked about it, he would think of some wonderful experiences or insights. Many of them are intuitively and logically meaningful to me, and many of them are experiences that I can relate to in my own way.
However, there is an experience that is obviously very special...
He told me that at any time of any day, we can choose to "start our day again."
We can just think that no matter what bad things have happened, it will not have a negative impact on our next day. I have indeed been affected in this way.
As you know, I am passionate about living in the moment. However, all books on this topic, including "The Power of the Present", rarely give practical ways to achieve this.
So, when I have an idea that really resonates with me, I want to test it, I want to share it, and I want to live by it and see what is true.
In this case, only 12 words can make "the power of the present" a reality:
"I want to start my day again...now."
Of course, we may have to restart our day, admonishing ourselves again and again.
But let's compare it with other options-
Unhappy, anger, frustration, resentment, sadness, shame, fear, regret, whether we are aware of this or not, as long as we are not immediately in the present state, we are in a state of rejection. We refuse to accept reality. We refuse to present the reality before us in its true state.
So, whenever you find yourself frustrated because of a "bad day", or something that you can't seem to let go of, please remember my friend's wise saying:
"I want to start my day again...now."
