Broken laws

Laws... Laws exist for something and for something, laws fulfill a specific function, but are laws really necessary? Really yes, even if you believe that some are useful or are a priority and others really are not. There are many laws that we like and others that we don't like, but they should still be complied with, maybe there is a law that says that on Wednesdays we have to wear blue and I don't want to comply with that law, would that be right or wrong? I think that will depend on the country, on the norm and on each person's point of view.

But are laws necessary?

Laws have always existed, for many years, even if you don't believe it, but they were very different from what we know today. Laws help us to understand "what is right and what is wrong" according to the person in charge, maybe many of those laws are badly designed according to what we think, this happens because we do not have the same point of view as the people in charge.

Previously each person who was in the high ranks created a law according to what he wanted and what that person thought was right, but as there was nothing written people did not know which law was legal and which law should not be followed. So I guess it was really complex to be able to coordinate people in getting them to follow the law, when they didn't know which law was right and which law was wrong.

The first person who started writing laws was King Hammurabi of Babylon. He elaborated a code, the first in history, and ordered it to be written down so that no one would forget the laws, since this is something that happened a lot, as there are many laws, it was very difficult for people to learn them. Many people considered that his code was very severe, because when someone committed a crime, the most normal thing was to apply the death penalty. Hammurabi said that the code should serve to "discipline the bad and prevent the strong from oppressing the weak".

After that, there were many other ways of remembering, writing, and setting out the laws until they became what we know today, where there are laws depending on certain things. There are traffic laws, laws in the institutions, laws in the kitchen, laws at home and so on, some do not have to be written, this usually happens in the laws of the house.

Laws have been invented so that a group of people follow the rules that someone else thinks are correct, an example might be that at home a law says that you have to wash your plate after every meal. There are the laws at work, the most common one is to be on time.

Now, whether all laws are followed will depend on the country, the type of law and the person. Why do I say this?

I don't really know how other countries and their laws work, as I have not left my country, so I don't know what your laws are like. In my country there are many laws, like in any other country, but not all laws are enforced, why? I think this is because of our own education, our way of living, and our upbringing. It is very "normal" not to obey certain laws and usually people who obey or try to obey the laws are made fun of or insulted, I really can't understand this.

The speed laws in my country are: the maximum speed in the slow lane is 40 km/h and in the fast lane 60 km/h, but people usually go at 80 or even 100 km/h in the slow lane, much more than double the allowed speed, but there is no fine for this, the police only stop the people they want to, even if those people have not broken any law, they do it just to ask for money...

So this law is not enforced, normally we go on the bike and try to comply with the law of maximum speed allowed, but many people pass by with their cars insulting us "for going so slow", when really we are going at the speed allowed and they are not complying with the law. Of course, many times we can't obey the law because it is dangerous, all the cars are going too fast around us and we can cause an accident by obeying the law.

Sometimes the law of traffic lights is not obeyed either, sometimes cars start even if their light is not on. Why does this happen? This happens because if there are no cars coming in the opposite direction and you are waiting for the light to move forward, all the cars behind start honking at you to move forward, so they force you not to comply with the law, many times we have also received threats for not moving at the traffic light because it is not our light.

For a person who rides a motorcycle it is very difficult to comply with the law, because if you are near cars that do not comply they can simply cause an accident and who gets hurt is the person on the motorcycle. Many times it is said that people who ride motorcycles do not know how to drive, but that is not true, people who ride motorcycles drive that way to avoid having an accident with an unconscious person who is driving a car.

It is really sad that these laws are really important and can't be fully enforced, because you are risking your life, so even if we don't want to have to break the laws, we break them, after all, in my country they don't fine anymore for speeding or because we start with the wrong traffic light. I always think this is really bad, but either we obey the laws that nobody obeys or we risk our lives...

These are tough decisions when we are driving but we need to know when to obey them and when not to.

Oh, I almost forgot... It is so dangerous to stop at traffic lights because other people can steal your bike or things.... So, is it necessary to break the laws from time to time? I think yes, if it is something that puts our life at risk and that what we do does not affect another person.

My dear friend, what do you think about laws? Is it necessary to break some laws from time to time?
