Agreement

প্রায়ই দেখা যায় Agreement থেকে প্রশ্ন আসে। সাধারণত Sentence Correction হিসেবে Agreement থেকে প্রশ্ন করা হয়। আমি আপনাদের সুবিধার্থে Agreement গুলো দিয়ে দেবো ধারাবাহিকভাবে ইনশাআল্লাহ। আপনারা খাতায় নোট করে রাখবেন এবং অবশ্যই মুখস্ত করবেন।

আমাদের মোট চারটি Agreement শিখতে হবে, এর মধ্যে দুটি Affirmative Agreement এবং দুটি Negative Agreement.

Affirmative Agreement:-

1. Affirmative Statement + and + subject + auxiliary verb + too/ also.

Example:-

1. I am strong in English and my sister is too/also. [Too বা also যে কোনটা দিলেই হবে, একই অর্থ প্রকাশ করবে]

2. My father loves this country and I do too/also. [ I এর পর do বসানো হয়েছে কারন father এর পর দৃশ্যত কোন auxiliary verb নেই, প্রকৃতপক্ষে সেখানে একটি does গুপ্ত অবস্থায় আছে। মনে রাখতে হবে and এর আগের clause এর auxiliary অনুযায়ী পরের clause এর auxiliary verb বসাতে হয়।]

Sample Questions:-

1. Choose the correct sentence-

a. kamal is a brilliant student and his brother does too

b. kamal is a brilliant student and his brother has too

c. kamal is a brilliant student and his brother was too

d. kamal is a brilliant student and his brother is too

Agreement এর ২য় structure.....

2. Affirmative statement + and + so + auxiliary verb+ Subject.

Example-

1. Kamal likes to learn English and so do I.

2. Kamal has the patience to read and so have I.

3. Kamal is always successful for this quality and so am I.

Negative Agreementঃ- (affirmative এর ন্যায় negative agreement ও দুটি)

1. Negative Statement + and + Subject + Negative Auxiliary + either.

Example:-

Kamal is not attentive in his study and I am not either. (কামাল পড়ালেখায় মনোযোগী নয় এবং আমিও না।)

Kamal does not want to study and I do not either. (কামাল পড়ালেখা করতে চায় না এবং আমিও না)

2. Negative Statement + and + Neither + Auxiliary* + Subject. [ যেহেতু neither নিজেই negative তাই আর negative auxiliary বসানো যাবে না]

Example:-

Kamal is not attentive in his study and neither am I. (কামাল পড়ালেখায় মনোযোগী নয় এবং আমিও না।

Kamal does not want to study and neither do I. (কামাল পড়ালেখা করতে চায় না এবং আমিও না)
