It's been a year since the shocking outbreak of a new strain of Virus, which erupted in the Wuhan province of China. It has been quite a long period that the world was put on the strong recommendation of health protocols. Numerous institution around the world was forced to cut operations in whatever stake to prevent itself to be infected or spreading the virus into wider scale. The overall situation was unfortunate to everyone, not just by health cause but for People's livelihood in general. From the government restrictions, commodity shortage, health threats. It was a huge factor in each and everyone's life.

What is the impact it causes?

I to myself, have been personally affected by the matter. It affected my mood and overall personality; emotionally, and mentally. I believe that lots of people all over the world had gone the same way, and maybe worst. The fear of losing a job or liberty as a human, because of the pandemic's hard lockdown implementation. It was terrible to think back to how the situation escalates on a global scale in such a short period. What is sure is that the catastrophe was devastating.

The education sector was also largely affected. Most students were suspended from going onto face-to-face classes for the risk of getting the virus. The modified learning system which is a new form of schooling has been encouraged to students learning even in pandemic times. On the other side, there are also lots of people who have been devastated in terms of livelihood contributed by the lost activities in the educational institution that has been suspended. The transportation and small businesses sector that regularly serves the masses of students and teachers has lost their daily income source. They lost their regular job and experienced a fear of losing living sources for their families.

In business and entertainment, it was also unimaginable devastation, when businesses are forced to reduce or closed due to the lockdown recommendation. More people's jobs were put on hold with no further recommendation on when to resume. This has put people's condition to the fear of not be able to raise their family needs regularly.

Does the lockdown serve what it used to be?

It is recognized how effectively lockdown benefited from containing the virus. It reduced the case tally on day to day basis. Unseemingly, It also benefits society to rest into the normal crowd and exhaustion from people's daily activities. People also able to bond with each of their families, play with their kids, recall the times they missed out on their responsibilities. The city was relieved from the normal crowd and exhaustion like never before. Trash and vehicle smokes are reduced, carbon emissions were lesser, and noise pollution was suspended for a while. It is quite a favorable benefit unexpectedly. The isolation of people from normal life which is their job and responsibilities taught them a lot of good things. The importance of family bonds, self-care, environment protection, and unity in times of natural calamity.

Lockdown impact on the economy.

Lockdown did a great job of preventing the whole population from sicking. Relatively, It reduces the overall consumption of natural resources and carbon emission on a global scale. And were also able each and everyone to regain the time lost of every family.

In exchange for these good benefits is the decreasing economy. The inactivity of the general public disables the circulation of economies profit and income. The businesses and service sectors do not generate much income due to people's limited capabilities. People are forced to hold their assets and other resources to secure their family needs. Big businesses cannot fully operate with less human power, and could not produce the same output with the same restrictions. Entertainment which also generates huge income and jobs for people is restricted and limited. One important lesson people have learned is that. The government needs people to function, therefore people's liberty deprivation poses great harm to the economy and government capacity. Long lockdown is not good for people and the government.

  • Did the lockdown teach you something?
