A group is a number of things or persons being in some relation to one another. Everyone, by default, belongs to a group either formal or informal. Family, Community, School, Offices, Religious bodies are all examples of a group that consists of people. So, this means no one can be exempted from belonging to a group in life.
In every group, there are always three types of people. It should be noted that everyone contributes one thing or the other, either positively or negatively. There are people whose presence cannot be underestimated while others are just there.
These three (3) types of people can be found in every group.
1. The Progressive set - these are the people who contribute their knowledge, skill, time, energy, and money to the development of the team. If they are in an office, they will make sure everything is in order and the organization is making progress. These set of people will go to any length to make sure their effort produces good results. It is impossible for a group to make significant progress without these people.
2. The Antagonists - wherever people come together to form a group, these set of people will surely be there. They don't seek the progress of the group or want anything good to come out of it, all they do is to fight against the progressive set. Their major aim is to make sure the group does not make a significant difference in terms of success, and whoever tries to change their mission is automatically an enemy. You can easily identify them by their gossips, anger, insulting language, lateness, and negative energy.
3. The Neutral Set - the progressive set focus on the positive outcome of a group's mission, the antagonists focus on the negative outcome of a group's vision, but the neutral ones perform no functions. They are neither progressive nor antagonistic, all they do is to act unconcerned. Their attitude can be compared to sitting on the fence; they are neither here nor there. Whatever the rest of the group members do is great to them. For instance, if they are in a meeting with other group members, they will never contribute anything. The best way to identify them is that their presence and absence makes no difference because they are not adding value.
The progressive set is the best.
