Rescue a shrunk shirt I've loved laundry service right from Secondary school days cos I hardly put on "unironed clothe"(rough clothes). It was totally part of me. So I saw myself Ventured into laundry business all through 2020. Let me share one of my experiences on how to rescue a shrunk shirt from the machine. Shrinkage of clothes cannot always be reversed. But sometimes, with a bit of luck and a lot of steam, you may be able to restore shrunk items. It happened to me, I was working my way through a fresh load of clean laundry, untangling the slightly damp pile of T-shirts and socks to hang each garment out to dry, when among the twisted cotton jersey, i saw the sleeve or cuff of something that absolutely should not have been washed in the machine. I pulled it from the pile, held it with two hands in front and assess the damage: how much smaller did the combination of heat, moisture and movement make it? Unfortunately, there is no sure way to reverse shrinkage but there are a few things worth knowing that may help avoid disaster in the future. *"Things shrink because of the way the fabric is structured."* I made some researches and found how Amber explained what really caused clothes to shrink. According to Rebecca van Amber, a textile scientist, almost all fabrics shrink because they are manufactured under tension. When yarns are run through machines and made into fabric, they’re pulled taut, regardless of whether it’s a woven or knitted fabric, like a T-shirt. *“When we wash the fabric, the water acts like a lubricant and allows the yarn to relax and sometimes it relaxes to the point of not being under tension any more,”* Van Amber says. This causes shrinkage because the yarns ultimately retract and become shorter. She says this applies across different materials because shrinkage has *“less to do with the fibre and more to do with the type of structure it’s made into”.* Different fibres, different rules Wool items shrink because there are scales on the surface of the wool that react to the combination of heat, moisture and agitation in a washing machine. Van Amber says the individual scales rise and move around, which causes them to “get stuck to each other and interlock so you end up with a jumper that is three or five sizes too small”. Once this has occurred, the change in the fibres cannot be reversed, the shrinkage is permanent, reducing your beautiful cashmere jumper to felt – which is great for craft or piano keys, but little else. Fortunately, most wool items have been treated with something called shrink-proofing treatment which means they can safely be put in the washing machine. Still, Van Amber says that it is really important to follow the care labels. Polyester should not shrink as much as natural fibres because polyester yarn tends to be manufactured as a very long single filament. Which means the yarn doesn’t need to be twisted as much as cotton, wool or linen, which have shorter fibres. Van Amber says this makes *“synthetic fibres and fabrics more stable because the fibres are so long there’s not a lot of room for shrinkage”.* **Steam is the only remedy.** Generally speaking, it is very difficult to add the tension back into a garment that has shrunk. According to Steve Anderton, a laundry expert from the consultancy group LTC Worldwide, some professional dry cleaners can partially reverse relaxation shrinkage by using copious amounts of steam at very high temperatures. At home, he suggests turning the garment inside out and using an iron to press the fabric and seams under tension with a little steam, and maintaining this tension until the fabric is cool. Van Amber also says you can try to unshrink things using a steamer or an ironing board but, unfortunately, it won’t be permanent. *“The amount that you stretch it will remain until you wash it again, when it will probably shrink back.”* But she says you may have some luck with wool – as long as it hasn’t been felted. *“The wonderful thing about wool is that you can iron and change the shape of it quite a lot through steam, I would iron it under steam and stretch it out quite gently.”* **Are you really worried about shrinkage?** Don’t use a hot cycle on a washing machine or a tumble dryer. Do a cold wash and line-dry garments. This is also better for the environment. Opt for a front-loading washing machine. Van Amber says: *“A top-loading washing machine with a middle agitator will damage your fabrics more than a front loader. Front loaders are more efficient in their water use and more delicate on clothing.”* Expect and anticipate a few centimetres of shrinkage in new items, but if something shrinks more than 5% it may be faulty. Buy secondhand or vintage clothes. *“If it’s not brand new it’s probably already been washed so you’re not going to find it’s going to shrink,”* Van Amber says. **Thanks for reading 🥰**

Help and trouble *In as much as we are admonished to help in all circumstance and in any capacity, we still need to be conscious of where are are channelling it to.* Letme share my experience. I reside very close to a busy lounge that knows no week day(everyday is weekend). At night I usually stay outside the lobby to take fresh breeze and feed my eyes with Happenings. I must confess, it's more like watching a hot movie hahah. So like I said, my corridor is somehow close to the main groovy road to the lounge itself. Most times some guys enter the corner my lobby and ask for lighter to light their cigarettes. Also sex workers enters the corner to gist and wait for their clients. So you see why I said it's full movie for me😂😂. ***My first encounter.*** It was late in the night around 9pm, I was outside after a long day laundry work, it was a Friday night. The club was booming as usual, cars and bikes trooping in and out, a **celebrity** was around for a show and it was hot. I was feeling the vibe outside. Suddenly a lady with a baby approached my corridor that she needs help. "What could that be?" I asked her. She said she want to drop her baby with me that she has a function inside the club. I was amazed. "She want to leave her baby with a stranger just because of mere pleasure" I wondered. I politely told her NO. She pleaded and pleaded and I refused. At this point some thoughts flashed through my mind; *"what if She's Jesus Christ in a prostitute form?"*. I smiled and topped it with laughter. Hahah😂😂 ***Why I refused to help her.*** What if I accepted and she never returned to get her baby? Hahah. What would I have done? That would have resulted in police custody. Aside this factor, what if the baby woke up in the night and manifested in cries and noise when I'm not a father. Lol. What if she returned that night and decided to pass the night in my house and later faint?(don't blame me, I was reasoning afar) A lot of thoughts pierced through my mind that night and I thank God I didn't allowed her. ***My Yesterday's encounter.*** I got back from work yesterday around 9:30pm and met my brother outside. I went straight to kitchen get "second dinner"🧐. Just few seconds into the meal, my brother came to tell that there's a lady outside pleading to drop her bag (bag containing clothes, according to her)in my house that she'd come and take it once she's true with her activity inside the lounge. I looked at the lady and she didn't look like some that's cool headed, or someone that's on emergency state that needs my help. She looked more of those sex workers. I bluntly refused and went to my meal with no remorsefulness. That thought of "what if" came again and I smiled. I concluded in my mind that my refusal to accept her bag into my house is not a sin at all. Yeah, not a sin. **CONCLUSION.** Yeah, we are admonished to help in all condition doesn't mean we should help and attract dangers. We should be sensitive to know where and who need our help. Are you Jesus Christ that would be crucified for paying people debt? A big No. Jesus has done that for us already. **Thanks for reading**

Television and Christians **It's Sunday and we are happy 🤸🤸🤸** Only eternity will reveal the sad horrible effects of television on the minds of Christians in this present evil age we live in. We have no reason to watch things that defile our minds. To say, ‘It does not effect me’ is a very poor excuse indeed! The writers have an agenda which is to promote evil in the name of entertainment(*regarding to evil /displeasing contents)* According to Jeremiah 10:2 we must not ‘learn the way of the heathen.’ Do you heed this warning from God? Constant watching of TV programs that are full of crime, violence, hatred, sexual impurity and mocking of God dulls your conscience and implants sinful thoughts into your mind. It is the very opposite of the command to ‘cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.'(2nd Cor.7:1).**Think how this affects the minds of children.** To watch the glorification of evil and sin is wrong for the child of God, who is to set his affections on things above. (Col.3:1-3) The family hour is now prime time TV instead of gathering the family together for a time of Worship and instruction in the Word of God which renews the mind. People live in a fantasy world that is unreal and makes sin look good! Hard to be a dedicated born again Christian if you are devoted to the idol of TV instead of being fully devoted to a holy God! **God must be 1st place in our lives !** TELEVISION is very distracting, time wasting, and causes temptation and the lowering of the holy standards of God. Watching a TV program that ‘calls evil good and good evil’ will cause you to compromise with evil and to tolerate evil since you allow yourself to be entertained by evil. This is very harmful and it is not innocent fun! TV is a deadly distraction that kills the spiritual atmosphere in your life and home. You cannot easily sit with those who mock the Lord with filthy suggestive jokes and language and grieve the Holy Spirit and live wholly to the Lord at the same time. Sin is portrayed on TV not as sin but as “normal and acceptable” and God forbid that we approve of this portrayal of sin. Do you laugh at what God hates? Most TV viewing cannot be pleasing to The Spirit! It may pull and attract the flesh but we are commanded to deny worldly lusts. (Titus 2:12) To look on and enjoy the things He has redeemed you from is very offensive to the Son of God. To allow your life to be cheapened by such garbage is to abuse the grace of God. Where is the love for worship ,for fellowship with a holy God and renewing your mind with the Truth ? We should be in close fellowship with a Holy God which means you will be repulsive at the amount of wickedness on television! *I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.* (Psalm 101:3). **Another Truth** But can we totally avoid Television in this era? A big No. Even churches are now using television channels to broadcast their services and songs. **We should totally avoid Television?** Just the way you select food when you're trying to loose weight, that's how it supposed to go. We know the events and programs that are displeasing to God, if you love God, hate the things he hate. Select the channels that are Godly and flee from evil programs. **Thanks for reading🥰**

Social network users have twice as many friends online as in real life Happy weekend people, I'm sure you all are doing fine. I must confess, this week has been the best for me on this platform as a newbie. What happened? @TheRandomRewarder has visited me thrice. I couldn't behold my eyes when I got the notification. **I'm encouraged to keep writing** I'd be talking about what I've observed to be very accurate. **We have more friends on social Media to real life.** After clocking up more than a few acquaintances online, it might come as a particular blow for keen social networkers like Barack Obama, or even Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg himself. But it seems -*whisper it-* that there really is something in that lingering suspicion that most users of social networking sites have more friends in cyberspace than reality. The average person has in fact double the amount of online friends than physical ones, according to research commissioned by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which found users of such sites have 121 online friends compared with 55 physical friends. The study also claims that people tend to be more open, confident and honest with their virtual friends than their "real" counterparts. "For most people, the internet is a way of keeping in touch with loved ones and friends but for people who are isolated due to illness, it plays a more vital role and can often act as a lifeline," said Helen Oxley, consultant clinical psychologist at Manchester Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre, Wythenshawe hospital. "In wider society, the ways in which friendships are formed and nurtured is changing with people recognising that they can develop deep, meaningful connections with others that they've never met, and may never meet. "People with illnesses often rely on the internet's ability to facilitate friendships as they blog and use networking sites as a way of coming to terms with, and dealing with their illness. It can foster a sense of social connection for those who can frequently feel isolated, which is important to psychological wellbeing." The results also reveal that one in 10 people has either met their best friend online or believe they will meet lifelong friends on the web. The findings highlight how social introductions are also changing. Only five percent would ask for someone's phone number whereas 23 percent are more likely to ask for an email address or a full name with the intention of adding them on a social network. According to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the internet provides a vital lifeline to people unable to physically socialise as much as they would like to.Matthew Reed, the trust's chief executive, said: "The social aspect of the web is very important to many people with CF, especially those who are no longer able to get out and about easily for various reasons." Yet more scrutiny of the alleged impact of social networking websites on society at large was meanwhile provided by a separate study which found that one in five parents think their children's school results are suffering due to the amount of time they spend on Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and other other non-educational web pages. A questionnaire completed by 4,427 adults, suggested that 20 percent of parents believe their child's education is being hampered by the amount of time they spend on such sites. The survey, conducted on behalf of TalkTalk's internet security service HomeSafe, found that children are spending an average of two hours and six minutes a day online. Nearly half of six to 11-year-olds spend one to two hours per day using the internet to play games but only 10 percent use the internet daily to do their homework, results show. It found that 50 percent of children aged between 12 and 17 use social networking sites every day while only 16 percent use the internet daily for homework. Childnet chief executive Will Gardner said: "Children under the age of 15 have never known a world without the internet. It's revolutionised how they learn, play and communicate with each other. ****My list of friends currently**** I just took a sharp glance on the list of people I call friends and I got shocked. 98% of the people I relate with on a daily basis are people I met online; Facebook and whatspp. **CONCLUSION** Unless you're the antisocial type, Social network users have twice as many friends online as in real life. Is not praying a sin? Another opportunity for us to learn 🙏 **1. WHY IS IT A SIN NOT TO PRAY?** 1. ***It is a sin not to pray because the Bible expressly calls it a sin.*** 1 Samuel 12:23 tells us this, and not to pray is to commit sin because the Bible, which is inspired, says it is. 2. ***It is a sin not to pray because it is right to pray.*** Read Luke 18:1 and then compare 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Ephesians 6:18. If it is right and necessary to pray, it is wrong not to (James 4:17). There are two kinds of sin, sins of commission and sins of omission. 3. ***It is a sin not to pray because when a Christian does not pray it is a reproach to God*** (Romans 14:23). It is pure unbelief not to pray (Hebrews 11:6). What a reproach it is to a father when a child does not trust him! Unbelief is a besetting sin which we are to lay aside and we must “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). 4. ***It is a sin not to pray because of all the encouragements that are given to us to pray.*** The Bible urges us to pray. God gives us promises, examples of men and women who have prayed and who have received answers to their prayers, and in addition to this we have a great Partner in prayer (Romans 8:26). Then, we have our own personal experiences of prayer to encourage us and still further we have the testimonies of others. If we do not pray we are left without excuse! 5. ***It is a sin not to pray because of all that prayer can accomplish.*** Go through your Bible and make a list of things recorded there that happened in answer to prayer. Because prayer can accomplish so much it is a sin not to pray, for by not praying we are damming up the channels through which mighty blessings could and should be flowing. When we do not pray we deprive the world, the Church and our own lives of blessing. 6. ***It is a sin not to pray because prayerlessness leaves the door open for all other sins*** (Matthew 6:13; 26:41; Luke 22:40). It was John Bunyan who said, ‘Prayer will make a man cease from sin, as sin will entice a man to cease from prayer’. Someone else has said, ‘For the Christian, prayerlessness is identical with backsliding.’ What are the sins that are defeating us? Would it be true to say that the main reason for our failure to get victory over these sins is our lack of prayer? 7. ***It is a sin not to pray because the root cause of all our deficiency and lack of spirituality is just this.*** Why are we so weak, anaemic and ineffective in our Christian living and service? Why is the Church powerless? Why is there so much effort with so few results? Is it not that God’s people are neglecting the great privilege and responsibility of prayer? **2. AGAINST WHOM DO WE SIN WHEN WE DO NOT PRAY?** 1. ***When we do not pray we sin against God.*** Notice in 1 Samuel 12:23 – “…against the Lord.” Of course all sin is against the Lord; we cannot sin and not sin against God – see Psalm 51:4 and Luke 15:21. Prayerlessness is a sin against God because it hinders His purposes and prevents Him from accomplishing His mighty works. Some things can only happen by prayer, and when we do not pray these things do not happen! 2. ***When we do not pray we sin against others.*** Notice in 1 Samuel 12:23 “…for you.” We live in a world which is filled with men and women who are spiritually and morally broken and bleeding. By prayer we can secure the healing touch of the Great Physician for the suffering ones around us. Not to pray for them is to deprive them of His healing, and therefore by not praying for our fellow-men we sin against them. Just pause and think of all that would happen in your church if you, and others with you, would really take prayer more seriously! 3. ***When we do not pray we sin against ourselves.*** Prayer changes the pray-er! The first big result of prayer is the reflex result, the blessing that comes into the heart and life of the one who prays. It would seem that two things are called for: 1. ***An honest confession:*** a frank confession to the Lord Himself that we have failed Him in our prayer life and in supporting the prayer activities of our church. 2. ***A personal decision:*** like Samuel, we must be willing to say, “As for me…” Let us humbly confess that we have been lazy, preoccupied, careless and prayerless, and let us vow in the presence of God that by His grace we will become men and women of prayer. Here are some suggestions that may help to overcome prayerlessness:- 1. Have daily, regular times of prayer. 2. Begin each session of prayer by reading a short portion from the Bible. 3. Pray through the problems of the day as they arise. 4. Do not be formal in the matter of prayer. Cultivate the habit of talking with God. 5. Study all that the Bible has to say on the subject of prayer. Get into the very atmosphere of the prayers of Abraham, of Samuel, of Nehemiah, of Daniel, and of the early Church. 6. Start a prayer list and tabulate for your own guidance some of the people for whom you are going to pray regularly. Keep on keeping on! **Thank you for reading**

I love goat meat Happy weekend people, I'm too sure you're all good. In search of what to write, I stumbled on a very mind blowing article on **Mercado Jauarez blog** and felt like Sharing. It's all about goat meat. It baffles me often when I see people selecting over and over turkey and beef to goat meat. Aside Being the sweetest meat in this world(to me though 🧐), there are other uncommon facts about goat meat Check out the following points to have a rethink **Goat is the most eaten meat in the world.** Although many Americans have not even tried goat, it's eaten all over the world. Africans, South Americans, Central Americans, Middle Easterners, Indians, Australians and New Zealanders tend to eat the most goat meat, but this tasty meat is popular in Europe as well. More people eat goat than chicken or beef, and surprisingly, goat milk is even more popular than cow's milk worldwide. The popularity shows no signs of slowing down either. Goat is the fastest growing segment of the worldwide livestock industry. Every day, more people are trying this delicious meat and falling in love. **Goats have been becoming popular in the United State for about 25 years.** Arguably, the goat population in the United States started boom around 1993. That year, Australia and New Zealand exported several herds of the South African Boer goat into Texas. Now, proud Texans love to dine on goat, and the trend is quickly spreading north as well. According to some estimates, there are about 450 million goats in the world. That's about 1 goat for every 14 people. Approximately, 3 million goats call the United States home, and about 44 percent of those horned creatures live in the great state of Texas. Texas may be considered cattle country, but we're also the country's leading goat producer. **Goat is healthy** Eating goat meat isn't just popular. It's also incredibly healthy. Goat is considered a red meat, but it has less fat and cholesterol than beef, pork or chicken. A 3-ounce serving of goat has only 122 calories, but it packs in 23 grams of protein. **Goat meat is environmentally friendly.** Goats are environmentally friendly compared to many other meat animals. They are browsers, which means they eat weeds and bushes, rather than just grass. That tends to have a lower environmental impact than grazing animals like cows. The idea that goats eat garbage is a myth—if you do see a goat chewing on a can, he's likely just trying to get at the sweet tasting glue that holds the label onto the can. Also, goats don't take up as much land as cattle. You need about an acre to support a cow, but you can put anywhere from 10 to 15 goats on an acre of land. Finally, goats are more efficient with their food than cows. If you give a cow and a goat the same amount of feed, you get more milk from the goat. That's stunning! Over time, those differences really add up. **Goat meat is delicious** In addition to all the environmental and health benefits of goat, the meat is delicious. It has a sweet, slightly gamy flavor that many people absolutely love. It's also versatile. You can eat goat in curries, Mexican dishes, Jamaican stews or just between a couple pieces of bread as a sandwich. **You've not tasted goat meat once?** You are missing a lot my dear, go for it today, feel the delicious taste and spread the news abroad. **Thank you for reading** **24th September 2021.** Reference:https://www.mercadojuarez.com/ https://www.mercadojuarez.com/5-things-you-should-know-about-goat-meat

My take on "would you rather?" This is actually my first article on this platform after a thorough coach by @Kushyzee , i must confess the guy is too good🥰. After reading what he posted last night on a trend "would you rather this or that?", You can read it here https://read.cash/@Kushyzee/would-you-rather-this-or-that-36c4b2a0 ,I felt it's a good opportunity to jump in and dish out some facts that's always burning in my mind haha. **Would you rather listen to voice note or read words during online conversation?** No doubt Listening to a voicenote is the sweetest when it comes to conversation especially when it's coming from a lady🤩. Aside that, it gives real expression of the person's opinion. But I would rather prefer words, why? Let me tell you one experience I once had. Our Secondary Old School forum once created a whatsapp group to get us together and discuss the way forward. At some point, the messages were choking some of us that are not chanced in day time to pay full attention to day meetings. *1000+ messages in a day, 🤣89% voice notes🤣🤣. Funny enough, most of these voice notes are up to 1mins each.* Imagine using 1hour to listen to voice. Hah, that can't be me. I prefer reading words during online conversation to listening to voice notes. **Would you rather read marriage counseling books or go for current stories on relationship Happenings?** I prefer looking out for stories on current happenings around than reading Godly/counselling relationship books. Incase you don't know, you won't find any real life **current** Happenings in that book, all you would see is Bible said this and that. I'm not saying it's bad to read such books but...🧐. Sometimes I wonder if the writters often write to tell the people the truth or write to impress some fellows and make gains. Let me cut this here first before attack start coming in haha. **Would you rather go the bank to resolve issues or use online platforms?** I'm the online type, If possible there's a means to eat food online, I'd jump on it, haha.🤣🤣🤣 I would rather use any of the online platform to resolve my bank issue than to experience queuing in bank. Who like sufferness? It baffles me how people trip for bank visitation when they could do almost all things online. Some are scared Being defraud though. **Slim or chubby girl?** We all have our differences, but I'll go with chubby. Why? We all know that law we learnt in physics; "*Like charges repels and unlike charges attracts"****.*** I'm proudly slim, haha. **Would you rather use mobile transfer on point of purchase or cash?** Guys, I'm working in an Eatery as cashier and i have loads of experience on this. I prefer to use cash, yeah cash. Why? Personally I love online banking and I love my transactions to be patterned in the same channel, but using mobile transfer at a point of purchase is totally off for me(though it depends on the shop or market,). "What if network fails?", this question always come to my mind. "What if network fails or delay for hours and debited "? Haha. In my work place, I can't count the number of people I have held down because of money transfer. **Would you rather go for league football matches such as Champions League, Premier league or go for National football leagues such as Nation's Cup and work cup?** Reserve me a seat and popcorn whenever it's national or world cup tournament. I don't know how I find myself in this space knowing fully well that guys of this era pant for leagues. There's a kind of love that runs in my system whenever we are watching our boys play. Aside that, I love seeing these top players perform at country level. **Would you rather love to eat food from a standard eatery or road side restaurant?** Sometimes ago, I had this argument with my friends on *"which food is sweeter"*. Truth be told, road sides food are cheaper but not sweeter. More also, the hygienic condition of standard eatery's food is top-notch. What am I saying? Don't dare to compare standard eatery's food to road side. Thank you😂. My first article Thank you for ready.
