Voter registration in the country resumes today, September 1 for the 2022 national elections, Commission on Elections Spokesperson James Jimenez has assured that the health registration protocol will be strictly enforced to ensure public safety amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. According to Jimenez, such protocols will be implemented to shorten the registration time at the Comelec offices, which are only from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. He also said that registrants must submit a "coronavirus self-declaration form," which can be downloaded from the Comelec website while those who come to the Comelec office will not be allowed to register without wearing a face mask and face shield. Those wishing to be voters are also encouraged to bring their own ballpen as an extra precaution. According to the Comelec, they will also limit the number of people who will be allowed to enter the Comelec offices to strictly enforce physical distancing. The Comelec urges registrants to make an appointment rather than just walk-in. βWe are encouraging appointments now. We want them to make an appointment at the Comelec offices instead of going there for a walk-in, βsaid Jimenez. βThey just need to call the Comelec office. All Comelec offices have a Facebook page so they are easy to contact. β The booking function of the online app iRehistro, which is expected to launch before September 1, can also be used. Meanwhile, Jimenez said that up to four million voters are expected to register in the country especially now that the public is more aware of the importance of registering to vote in elections.
Now it's time for the voters to be wise as they know already that they made a mistake or not on the last elections as government officials we're tested on how they handle the situation on this pandemic that we are having right now. Just Vote wisely and learn from our mistakes....
