We all knew who Manny Pacquiao is aside from being a current Senator in our country here in the Philippines. He is highly known and popular being a professional boxer having his belt of being the only boxer in history to have captured world titles in this sport in eight different division or weight class. As he is still active on his career on his pro career as boxer and planning to taking the dream on the 9th heaven as he plan to move to the middle weight division and capture again another crown for the elusive crown in 9 different division well he that was one heck of a career and he might end his career as the GOAT or Greatest Of All Time Boxer maybe if he did not loss in his match again Floyd Mayweather but what ever happens he is the one i can say that really brings up the name of the Philippines back again in the world because every time he fights he brings pride to the Philippines that nobody can't deny.

But aside from PacMan how does exactly boxing starts in the Philippines? Boxing is a very popular sports in the country aside from Basketball. And the sports also brings a lot of honors even before. One that's top on that list that bring honors to the country is Pancho Villa the first Asian World Champion in the boxing history in 1923 at the small height of only 5 foot 1 he is considered as one of the greatest Flyweight fighter in the history. He was never experienced being knocked out in his entire career bat sadly for his very short tenure in his boxing career he passed away so young at only age of 23 years old due to complication following a tooth extraction. Imagine if he did not die to soon maybe Philippine boxing history is so so so great.

Another boxer that reigns in the history of sports is Gabriel "Flash" Elorde he is considered also as one of the greatest filipino boxers of all time. He holds the records until now for the longest holding a title in the super featherweight division with a span of seven years wow what a domination. He was much loved by the people and become a sports cultural icon. Elorde passed away at the age of 49 he is a chain smoker due to have complication on his lungs. But his legacy did not finish when he died still his surname Elorde is very popular in the Philippines because of his children that continues his legacy in boxing by building some gyms and training them to the sports and became promoters of the game.

And who doesn't know about the name of Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco when he brings glory to the Philippines by winning a silver medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics that for now stands as the highest achievement by any athlete in the Olympics that until now we are searching for that first elusive Gold Medal in the Olympics and boxing is i think we have a great chance to accomplish that.

Some of the other filipino boxing greats are Rolando Navarette, Luisito Espinosa , Gerry Penalosa, Nonito Donaire and lot more boxers who brings pride and glory in the history of Philippine Boxing as of now has procude 42 World Major Champions and counting and how that's rich is Philippine Boxing History.
