The Philippines have been in too many controversial news in the past couple of days and one of that are the approval of our President Rodrigo Duterte on the Anti Terrorism Law which too many people are not favor of that move by the President, the other is the news about the issue of the ABS-CBN TV Network on not approving their franchise renewal by the majority of the law makers in the House Of Representatives that some people are think it is personal issue between the current administration and his allied.
And now President Duterte is making noisy again with a news about stating that he destroyed Oligarchs even with out using special powers of Martial Law. President stated he destroyed all the biggest Oligarchs in the Country that are holding the economy of the Philippines oppress and didn't pay taxes to the government, he said it while he is in speech in front of the soldiers during a visit to Kuta General Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu.
The President did not really said it directly to the point he just subtly compared the actions he did to the time of the late former President of our country Ferdinand Marcos, who declared Martial Law in the country from 1972 to 1986 and make the closures of some biggest company that operates in his time including the TV Network ABS-CBN.
Unlike before President Marcos who used Martial Law, Duterte said he don't need to use the special power of Martial Law to certain businesses held allegedly by the country’s oligarchs. They are abusing and taking advantage of their political power, they are playing my Nation on supporting their candidate every election Duterte said. The President is very proud of what he done so far on the oligarchs he also said he would die very happy knowing that he makes sure he was able to resolved the issues involving those people with vested self interests of their own.
We all know who is the President is referring on his statements but for sought of clarification on his statement the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. stated the the President is not referring to the Tv Network ABS-CBN. Roque said that the President was talking about the usual pet peeves: the Pangilinan MVP Group of Companies, Lucio Tan and the Ayala's. he also mentioned that the statement of our head of state had nothing to do with the closure of the network of ABS-CBN, that it was just a coincidence the timing of the Presidents statement about the oligarchs the case of the TV Network is a case of a expired franchise which was not renewed b y the Congress he added.
For me whether or not that the ABS-CBN is the one that the President is stating the oligarchs is up to him to directly named them but what important is that as far as i'am concerned he is on a right track on doing his job as the head of state especially on this time of pandemic, we should be very grateful that he is our President in the situation of the world like this, because maybe if not our country is in a worse case scenario right now.
