Dennis "The Worm" Rodman is a legendary NBA basketball player that is know for his great rebounding prowess and intense hustle and defense on the hardwood. He started his career in the NBA when he got drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 1986 NBA Draft as the 27th overall pick in the 2nd Round. As the member of the "Bad Boys" Pistons from 1986 to 1983 there he captured his first 2 NBA Rings when they become back to back World Champions in 1989 and 1990. After that he was transferred to the San Antonio Spurs teaming up with another Legendary Player David Robinson where they played together for two years in the start of 1993 up to 1995. And then he came to the Chicago Bulls team where became more popular even though he has making a name of it's own in the last two teams he played, he became much more recognized in the NBA by teaming up with the game's Greatest of All Time Michael "Air" Jordan and Scottie Pippen where they formed one of the most famous and effective Big 3 in the League he played in the Bulls in 1995 until 1998 where Rodman and the Bulls make their last dance on capturing their 6th Title in the last 8 years where Dennis captured another 3 tittles of his own under his belt. After leaving the bulls after their last championship run Rodman had both short stint in the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks in 1999 and 2000 where he finished his NBA career then stopped playing basketball where he focus his career on filming and fashion after then in 2003 have a basketball stint again until 2008 and then he called it quit. He was inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Inhis career in NBA he became a Champion 5x, 2X NBA All Star, 2x All NBA Team, 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1990 and 1992, 8x NBA Defensive Team and 7x NBA Rebounding Champion from 1992 until 1998.
We all know that in the Philippines Rodman is very famous and well beloved because of how he played the game and being a member of the Chicago Bulls, but aside from that one reason is because of his father. Yes father in real life the one who gives his life on earth Mr. Philander Rodman that is actually staying here in the Philippines since 1970 as a businessman here and stayed here for good where he had an amazing love story infamously had an estranged relationship with the most famous of more than 29 children through 16 mothers. And one of that children is Dennis Rodman the story of the two is not really a good one having thought in the mind of a young Dennis that he and his mother was abandoned by Philander so it has a big deep cut in the heart of Dennis until he became old and one reason for that is in 2006 when Dennis had an exhibition game in the Philippines and his father go to the Arena and try to confront his son but the day ends and there is no reconciliation that happen.
When he accept his Hall of Fame Award in 2011 he became emotional and mentioned in his speech that his life is very hard because of they was abandoned by his father. But then he came back in the Philippines for another exhibition games and the again his Father goes in the arena and watched the game of his boy and by surprised in the halftime of the game Rodman grabbed a microphone and speak to the crowd saying " I HAVEN'T SEEN MY FATHER IN 42 YEARS , IN 42 YEARS RIGHT, BUT HE IS STILL MY DAD. AND HE'S RIGHT HERE IN MY HEART. RIGHT THERE" pointing to the location of Philander and the crowd goes crazy and his dad is very happy. After the game his father waited for him hoping for forgiveness they shake hand and talked for a while asking about each other and then his father give him his number hoping for the call from his son.
But Last July 14, Dennis Rodman dies at the age of 79 due to Prostate Cancer his remain lie in the funeral chapel in Angeles City Pampanga here in the Philippines. Some of the relatives of him from his father are trying to reach for him for possible help for burial and funeral and possible for the last time for him to see the remain of his father. I hope he will come here in the country for the sake of his father because what ever happens in the past from them it is already past and done after all if not for his father he would not be here in the world and not be where he is right now. Rest in peace to you Mr. Philander Rodman.
