Most Famous Native Delicacies in Philippines | Filipino Kakanin
Flipinos are well-known for having a soft-spot for food especially sweets. Some places in the Philippines have a signature food. These are the delicacies that are available in different parts of the country but only differ in how they are prepared and the ingredients used.
In Philippines, there are several types of kakanin as most regions have their own version of the popular native delicacies or kakanin. Most kakanin can be found throughout the Philippines, but mostly prepared during Christmas, New Year or other special occasions. It is also Filipinos' favorite snack during afternoon. These are usually served as dessert or merienda with matching coffee or chocolate drink.
Now, enough about the descriptions. Below are the following Filipino Kakanin/Delicacies in Philippines.
***1. PUTO***
Puto is a Filipino steamed cake snack that is served any time of the year. Puto is made out of a refined rice or a wheat flour, with the cheese or grated coconut as its toppings above it. Puto is quite popularly paired with the classic Dinuguan. These two would always be a perfect meal combo. There are also lots of puto version in Philippines, you can easily distinguished them in their sizes, looks or appearance and of course their unique and their special taste. One of these is the Puto bumbong, it is usually color purple and very popular every christmas season.
The puto is good for any types of occasions or any celebration such as Weddings, Christening, Christmas, New Year, Fiesta and any types of gatherings with relatives, families or friends.
***2. Biko***
This is yet another delicacy found all over the Philippines. It’s a rice cake made from sticky rice (known locally as malagkit), coconut milk and brown sugar. Filipinos usually eat this for dessert or as a snack. Biko is perfect for birthday parties, town fiestas, family reunions and other special occasions.
***3. Sapin-Sapin***
Colorful and layered glutinous rice, this delicacy is made all over the Philippines.
It is made from rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, water, flavoring, and coloring. Sapin sapin is usually sprinkled with latik or toasted dried coconut flakes on top. It is sometimes made in different flavors mixed in each layer such as ube halaya (purple layer), langka (yellow or orange layer), and plain flavored (white layer).
***4. Kutsinta***
Kutsinta is one of the simplest kakanin in the Philippines. It’s also very easy to find in the markets or malls. It’s that brown cupcake like kakanin that’s sold alongside puto or suman.
It is a type of steamed rice cake made from a mixture of rice flour, brown sugar, lye water, topped with small pieces of fresh grated coconut mostly eaten as snack.
***5. Kalamay***
Kalamay, also spelled Calamay which means "sugar", is a sticky sweet delicacy that is popular in many regions of the Philippines. It is made of coconut milk, brown sugar, and ground glutinous rice and stored inside a coconut shell.
***6. Suman***
Suman is a traditional Filipino rice cake that is usually made from glutinous ricecooked in coconut milk and wrapped in banana leaves for steaming. Aside from using glutinous rice, some variations also use root crops such as cassava.
***7. Bibingka***
Bibingka is a type of rice cake from the Philippines traditionally eaten during the Christmas season. It is made from rice flour, baking soda, coconut milk/water, eggs, salted eggs or grated coconut (for toppings) and a pinch of salt. It will poured into a container lined with banana leaves. It is traditionally baked on live coals in a clay oven, though a regular oven may also be used.
***8.Palitaw***
A small, flat, sweet rice cake made from washed soaked and ground sticky rice dipped in grated coconut, and presented with a separate mix of sugar and toasted sesame seeds. It is easy to cook, taste great and easy to chew.
***9. Pichi-Pichi***
Pichi-pichi is a Filipino delicacy made of grated cassava and coconut juice. Soft, chewy and coated with grated coconut, this steamed cake is delicious as a snack or dessert. Pichi pichi is also available in different colors such as yellow, pink, violet, and green.
Well, that's just few of the well-known kakanin/delicacies that can be found in Philippines. So when you are in the country, I highly recommend to try one or all of the Filipino kakanin.

Because our mind is preoccupied and we don't really care what we do and sometimes we regret it after. Life is not always happy, there will be times that you're up and also when you are down. Indeed life is a lot of challenges that you should be able to solve it. That time you'll realize a lot like how you did it last time when you're having a bad day. Through this challenges of life, it will taught us how to become a better person. Well, if you are having a bad day, take a break and don't mind the people around you, it will cause more troubles hence, you should go out for a walk and surround yourself in trees or with a lovely view of the nature that will calm your nerves. Life is very unpredictable, you are happy right now and later on, you suddenly feel sad and you gotta start talking to yourself wondering why did it happen to you, but that's life its not always happy. When you are not feeling well, don't pretend it to your friends, family, loved ones and etc., just let it be show to them and let them think on how they will cheer you up and how they will do to make you feel better. Its okay when you are not okay, thats life we can't change that fact. And if ever you don't wanna talk about your problems to your friends or anyone just let it talk to God, He will listen and He would never judge you eventhough we cannot hear what He says, but He will show to us some signs and He will make us feel better after we told Him everything running on our minds and its the best feeling. So don't be ashamed of yourself when you're not okay, everything that'll happen on our lives has a reason, maybe God is challenging us how to survive in this world and how to stand on your own feet. But at the end of the day you'll realize how strong you are for not giving up when life is too hard on you lately.

Isn't amazing watching the sun goes down? Its very relaxing how the color combine with the ocean along with the beautiful color of the sky. Like somehow you find it an inner peace of yours. Watching as the sun goes down it means to me that I survived the day, I survive all the struggles I've been through and its time to rest and be prepare for what will tomorrow may bring. Even if you're having a bad day, don't pressure yourself too much its okay when you failed on something, and when you are feeling down just watch the sunrise or sunset which do you prefer the most to make your nerves calm and I assure you it'll be the best feeling.

This church was build years ago and the story behind how did they built this will make you confuse. According to them this church is made from coral blocks from the sea and millions of white eggs were said to have been used as cement.

You can only see this lovely cute rare species here in Bohol, with its big brown eyes and cute shape form bodies and long tails. But be careful, you are not allowed to take picture with flash on it is not good for them.

Enjoy everything until your stomach can't eat anymore longer. A perfect place to dine in with a lovely breathtaking surrounding with your family, friends and loved ones.
• Man made forest
This place, you'll feel overwhelmed because of the trees that gives you chill. It was called man made forest because the boy scouts planted that trees. And it is not highly applicable to take a picture a longer time because many cars would pass. So be alert always when you get there.
• Chocolate Hills
This place is the very well-known in Bohol, its very famous because there are 1,700 more hills and the view is very relaxing. When its dry season the hills are just like chocolate because of the ground color, and when its wet season you'll see the lovely green all over that'll calm your nerves.

We are lucky enough if our parents are still alive, and not seperated because we can still feel how deep the love of our parents to their childrens like spoiling their kids and teaching them how to act a good person and how to respect older people.
Family is the best gift that God given to us, well some of us are not because they've got divorce and found their other partner. The child will be very affected on that kind situation, because every programs in school that the parents are involved they can't participated because of his/her family issue, they will feel envy to his/her classmates whom enjoying the programs together with their parents. When you have a problem you always talk to your friends to consult some advice on how to survive to your problems, but some of them are not willingly to give you advices hence, they'll talk behind your back that you are such a dramatic person that's why, you should always run to your parents, tell them all of your problems because family won't leave you behind, family will always stick together through ups and downs. Well some of us are not really close to our parents, we should treasure the precious moments with our parents so that if God take them we wouldn't regret a single thing, show them that we truly care and love for them because our parents are also a human, they have feelings too that they want to feel from their children. We should always obey our parents because it is written in the Ten Commandments of God, and it is not good to disobey them because our parents care so much to their children and they won't like that their child will be in trouble, all they want is to have a good life to their childs. As you see, when we needed something, we immediately tell to them without being hesitated, and our parents will give it us also because they know that you needed it so much. They buy us much clothes without thinking that they also needed it too, that's why parents love is indeed unreplacable.
There's no thing in this world can replace family's love, money will fade away but love for family is forever. To all people reading this, treasure your family always, don't leave them behind, don't break your parents heart, don't make them cry because once we saw our parents crying it literally broke us into pieces it really hurts, there's nothing much pain when you see both of your parents crying because of your wrong doing. Don't disobey them, our parents really care for us, they want us to be a good responsible person in the future, they want us to stand alone on how to survive in this world without them on our side and to not be a unresponsible one. Love our parents with all our heart because we didn't know when will God take them on us.

After we graduate on high school some of us are excited and others are nervous because they are not sure what course they should take on and some of them are not sure to go on college because of lack of money that the parents cannot afford it.
Well college is not easy, it teaches you how to be a independent person. You will experience a lot, failures, stress, pressure, etc., but through that you'll learn how to manage things and that will be served as your inspiration to go on. They say college is fun, yes it is fun but a lot of pressure, especially when the exams is coming, lots of projects, presentation and lots to study that some of us are not having a good sleep just to read and analyze. And that particular time will be a hell week of the students, it irritates us easily and we don't talk much often because lots of things are running on our minds. Also you must know how to manage your time, you should make a time management so that it will never be complicated to another things you should do, this is very important because most of the students didn't finish their task because of lack of time. College is very expensive, for what I have experienced you'll need lot of money because you will visit a place that your teacher said so, well you're lucky enough if you have a car or a motorcycle that can save your money a little but I assure you that you will not regret it, college will taught us more lesson and experience more that we never expect to be happen in our life and this is the time when you are finally free to do whatever you want because your parents are far away in you, but always remember your goals in life that it will never affected to your doings. College life is a preparation to you, you're far away from your parents and you should stand on your own to live and survive because when you'll be working soon, it is not much heavy burden in your chest because you already exprienced it while you pursuing your dreams.
So for those having a hard time in college, especially to the freshman, it will be over soon, you just need a little patience to achieve your goals in life. All of your sacrifices will be pay off when you finally finish your studies and have a stable job. Also this is the time when you should pay off the sacrifices of your parents by sending you to a proper school to pursue your dreams. And do not forget to thank God everyday for what you have right now, because it will be impossible to achieve all your dreams without God in your life, always put Him center, because nothing is much better when you have God in your life. We can survive this, just never lose hope.
Youth of Christ and A Youth of the Community
Being a youth of Christ is also a youth of all. Serving not only for the church, but also in the community. As Dr. Jose Rizal said “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa nang Bayan”.
A youth has an important rule of the community. They show patriotism and nationalism by simply helping people by not counting the cost or the fame that they get after helping those people in need. They help the community by simply following the rules and be a good citizen of the country. And as a member of the Parish Youth Ministry of the church I show patriotism by simply serving and act what the church teaches us by showing the 7 corporal works of mercy. The reason why I shown love to this country is that I am proud of being a Filipino. Showing love to the country can be seen by helping our co-Filipino. I am happy to serve the church and the community and seeing those people happy whom I serve.
To all Filipino youth showing patriotism and nationalism starts from you. Showing love to the country doesn’t mean that you will to sacrifice your life. You can show patriotism by simply doing simple things that can benefit the whole community. Showing respect to everyone .And lastly we should stop complaining about the flaws of our government and instead work for the growth and development of the country. It is better to be the change first to bring the change. It is important to love the nation we live in and focus more on what it has given to us and what we can give back to it. We need to be united and stand together for the progress of the country for its improvement. “Serving God is serving the community”.

COVID-19 in Philippines
This early year of 2020, a global pandemic called Covid-19 or Corona virus disease 2019 became a hot issue. Eventhough medicines are pretty much accessible today compared before, still this virus has no cure and no vaccine. Due to this happenings, many countries were under quarantine. Covid 19, made the people worried, live in fear and some cried because they don't know what to do due to the fact that their are hundreds or thousands died day by day. However, some remained calm because they believe in hope and power of prayer.
In the Philippines, when community quarantine happened, people stayed at their homes, the minors and senior citizens were not allowed to go out except when they needed to go to center or hospital for medical reasons. Only one member of the family can go out at a time and they should have a quarantine pass or a working pass for workers. The stores that are open were limited. Businesses that are not that necessary were closed. A member of a family would just go out to buy food to eat (groceries) or medicines. Also, they need to observed social Distancing wherever they go, wearing mask is a must, and washing hands with soap, sanitizer or alcohol must be done anytime and anywhere before touching your face so that virus can't enter your body.
Mindful Filipinos preferred to stay at home, follows the government protocol for safety and security, and awaits for some credible news. For those wanderers, they may feel bored because of the situation they are in and may be some of them used their gadget as a mean to lessen their boredom. However, not all people followed the rules, there still some who break the rules and making troubles. Some go outside wandering and protesting. Even though Covid- 19 as a global pandemic sounds scary, we can still be calm together with our family at home by making ourselves as healthy as possible, be clean and neat at all times, avoiding crowded places when we go out, and pray that this may end as soon as possible.

Philippines has 3 region Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The 10th largest island in the Philippines was place in the region Visayas named Bohol. The birth place of our former President Carlos Polistico Garcia. It is also the birth place of Francisco Dagohoy a very well known hero who fight against the spaniards era and the famous Datu Sikatuna who fight for the freedom of the Boholanos.
Despite of it's small landmark, Bohol has a great treasure. Bohol had both tourism and history or we can say enjoyment and learning.
Bohol was famous on some tourist attraction. The white beaches, island hopping, caves, man made forest in Bilar and the famous Chocolate Hills in Carmen. Bohol is a well known province all over the country not only in it's wonderful mother nature that can be seen only in Bohol but also in it's fiestas especially in the month of May where many Boholanos wants to go home to celebrate the fiesta in their hometown.
Bohol is not only rich in nature, but also rich in history. Bohol is also well known in it's historical landmark. The famous churches that being build for a long period of time that still being use and preserve until now. The sandugo momument which emphasis the beauty of friendship despite in diversity by Rajah Humabon and Legaspi.
Bohol is also a well known music lover, boholanos and boholana are gifted in the field of music. Bohol is also competing international music event. And one of that is the famous Loboc Children's choir which compete and won in many event all over the world. Bohol is well known kundiman singer.
Bohol is full of surprises, a surprises which you enjoy the most and.out of that enjoyment you can learn something. I hope you visit this province after this pamdemic.

Don't waste your time trying to impress others, instead think about what you love to do and go on about doing it. Do whatever you wanted to do as long as you are happy, uou didn't mistreat others. Don't hesitate to take big decisions, take risk. Set aside your fears, be brave and have courage that's the key to become successful. Choose a path that works to you not because someone else said but it's because what you decide. Think and weigh your opinions and be comfortable with it. Keep in mind that it is only one life. Girl Of His Dream
It was one bright and sunny day. When there is a girl walking in the street while using her cellphone and suddenly she just bump into someone that she don't know. And when she about to scold the person, she looked straight and starstruck at his deep chestnut brown and tantalizing eyes. She looked at his well structured and flawless face with a defined, slightly pointed chin and a sturdy jaw line. His brown eyes were small and spaced evenly apart, sitting below perfectly trim eyebrows that seem to curve as a natural extension of his pointed nose. He kept his mouth closed in a thin straight line with red kissable lips and his hair; naturally light brown in color was neatly worn back to reveal his wide forehead and then his V-neck shirt he wore over his broad shoulder was crumpled-free. He walked straight as if he didn't bumped into someone, his face held forward in a steady gaze and had an air of authority that was noticeable. The girl tried to approach him and think that he's a perfect boy she ever saw in here entire life but suddenly someone shake her shoulder and then she opened her eyes and realized that it was just a boy in her dream.

As we all know Rizal is our national hero. Rizal lives' once, he offer his life to create many things that people able to wake from the reality of this world. The slavery and many abuses that the intruder done to our country. Rizal dedicate himself through writing the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo until his last novel Me Ultimo A Dios just to create a bridge that people able to walk to the other side and that other side is the real situations of our country.
As I journey in this world with only one life, there are things that similar to Rizal experience that I also experience as human.
And this are some of our similarities :
Rizal as leader, as youth we are called all to be a leader. Like rizal create a portal that bring people to the reality as to I am, as a leader I have the responsibilty to open their mind that the world is full of undesirable things, but not like rizal did that he woke people minds through his writings, but my way is through prankly speaking to them just to open their mind in reality. As Rizal quoted "Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan".
Rizal as a lover of his own country. As a citizen of this country their are simple things to show love for the country like showing respect to the country, cleaning the environments and etc. Those simple things can create a big impact to the Society to show love and respect to the country.
Rizal as student. As a student like Rizal that bring total hardwork to his study despite of all criticism that he experience he did not stop educate himself nor he make those criticism his motivation to pursue more in his study. As a student I also experience criticism on my course, and doubt of other people that I cannot finish my study, but like Rizal I make them all as a challenge and create a bridge of criticism which I can walk in order to be strong and be a strong student.
Rizal as healer, as Rizal healed his mother, not only his mother but also people who need to be healed. Rizal did not hesitate to help. As a human we can also heal, in our own way. Rizal healed them through medicine. There are two things that need healing physical and emotional. Rizal healed physical but as a human I can heal their emotional illness by simply listening to their problem and giving advices to them.
The experience that Rizal and I can be judge because I know that it is not the same. Yes! It is not the same because we lived in a different time and in different situation. The only similar things is the values and morals that Rizal experience during his stay in this world is similar on the experience that I encounter nowadays.
You only lives once, live according to your purpose. Live a meaningful life. As what other people said "Live for nothing or die for something".
