Earth Day
In a struggle between earth and humans, earth wins every time. That's why addressing climate change is, in fact, as much about saving ourselves as it is about saving the planet we live on.
The latest study I've seen shows 5 million people die worldwide each year from climate change. That number is only going to grow as we continue to see rising sea levels, droughts, extreme weather and temperatures, and more. That's not to mention the significant economic and humanitarian impacts of climate change around the globe as well.
Don't get me wrong, I believe taking care of the earth and her resources is just the right thing to do on its own. But the urgency of action lies in the fact that humans, and not just the environment, also suffer grave effects of climate change and a polluted earth. This #Earth Day, let's commit to saving the planet — yes for its own sake — but also for our sake, our children's sake, and the sake of generations to come.
