Ever asked yourself when you lack self-motivation? Let me ask you another way round- when do you need self-motivation the most?
Some people would say they need it as the very first thing in the morning. Some rely on it at work, some urge it from within during an interview, and some even require it while talking to someone new for the first time in their lives.
In reality, motivating yourself from within proves to be crucial throughout the whole life. Our lives are like the scrambled puzzle pieces, which we must put in the right places for manifesting the complete picture and make the life more comprehensive.
While doing so, we get overwhelmed by endless, I repeat, endless obstructions and challenges in our path. We fail our enterprise, we lose our hope, we lose our loved ones, our riches plunge into the abyss of loss, and eventually, we lose faith in ourselves.
Exactly at this point in time (actually millions of times), we urge for that fueling motivation so we can push ourselves and our endeavors forward to attain success.
In a word, self-motivation is not a medicine that you take only for a course of time, it is a lifelong process that you develop and maintain till your last breath.
Self-motivation: Is It Mundane Nowadays?
The question is tricky, so is its answer. The world has become such a playhouse now that people may have the capability to engage in anything and everything, yet they bypass the most important signal, which is an active mindset.
Today, we prize our gifted time of advanced technology and its subsequent products like cellphones, computers, social media platforms, free information, and as such. Still, our hearts cannot avoid feeling numb, fatigued, and sometimes worse, worthless.
Why so?
It is because we may be apparently flowing into a torrent of affluence, we may be seen doing anything that everyone else is doing, or learning what our social standards persuade us to delve into, but deep inside, we feel empty. We are alone.
We lack motivation when we lose the meaning of doing something. Human lives have become a series of forcible and less-important works every day. I don't say working isn't necessary or enjoying the cutting-edge tech services is an over-the-top luxury, it's just that we tend to involve ourselves in repeating or overdoing things whether we find it useful or not.
For instance, we are exploiting social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or as such like they are our daily vitamins and minerals. I'm not against the use of social media for commercial purposes or propagating any current affairs. But even that too sometimes get exaggerated hypes.
And talk about the non-commercial users, they have turned these platforms into the second dumb-box (after TV); a window that is used to tell (not 'show') their talent and courage, which only stay within the virtual realm.
Today, we are more virtual than human beings. We were supposed to act in the situation, not react on the outer shell of a phenomenon that we're unable to fathom. True motivation never consumes you, it lifts your spirit for even harder and seemingly impossible or unusual agenda.
How Can You Maintain Your Self-motivation and Get Back on Track Every Time You Fail?
The answer is simple. Just do it.
What I mean is make the effort to do whatever you must do to change your situation.
You failed an exam? Put your head down and start studying. One failure doesn't end your life here.
Your business was a loss? Take your time, rearrange everything, then cast the iron when it's hot.
You failed your dreams by not pursuing your passion in the first place? Then waste no more time, start on what you've missed out learning, and open your arms to the new opportunity.
Our merciful God has created this earth and humans with everything that is required to achieve success and overcome any crisis. The most vital thing He has gifted us is our freewill.
When we learn to utilize our freewill for good and greater causes, our motivation automatically kicks in.
Things you can do to maintain your self-motivation intact:
#Laugh out Loud
Yes, you're not mad if you LOL sometimes on a joke your friend has just cracked or finding yourself in a situation where everything is sarcastic. Just make sure you don't blow away everyone else around you by your hysteric sense of humor.
Laughing might be the best medicine, as far as the cliche goes, but the rust will still overlay your inside as long as you don't do it from heart. Laughing and mocking are two separate practices. Next time, when you laugh out loud, abstain from mocking others as well as yourself.
#Try New Hobbies
Try new stuff like writing, cooking, gardening, hiking, singing, etc. Anything that is sober, good for heart and soul and that transforms your mood.
I'm a writer, still, I find cooking very creative and engaging sometimes. After all, it makes you more responsible and careful of doing things in an organized and hygienic way.
The best part of these hobbies are, one of them might become your sideline business. Because for millions, they are their professions.
#Get Yourself Out
Ahaa! The most favorite of mine. Though I, like millions of other good citizens of earth, am locked inside my home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I still long for traveling almost every day.
So, at this moment, this very suggestion of mine is only for those who live in a COVID-free place and those who can step merely out of their four-walls for a while, or at least step up to tread on the roof.
Know this, travelers are more enthusiastic, more explorative, wiser, experienced, and yes, always motivated to see more, to consume more knowledge, and to share more with the world around them.
#Focus on Your Diet and Fitness
We are what we eat- and it is true as most health experts and nutritionists these days are emphasizing this fact. A healthy meal three times a day should take you through the day nicely.
Your meals don't have to be expensive. Just ensure they are full of soluble fiber, proportionate vitamin and protein, minerals, calcium, and other goodies. Drink enough water every day so you don't experience fatigue or unnecessary headache.
Walk every day if hitting the gym is arduous for your schedule. Do other body-weight exercises such as jumping, push-ups, squats, planks, etc. Have enough sleep as per your physical requirement.
#Prayer
You're not alone in this world even if everyone else leaves you on your own. There's a supreme being, a way higher power beyond our scale, who runs the whole universe in order.
Anytime, every time, and for a lifetime, He's there for you. All you need is to ask sincerely. Pray to God so you can pour your heart out. Cry like a baby for fulfilling your needs. Trust me, no one values your tear more than your creator does.
Don't bother where you are, what your state is, or how are you dressed up. Just convince your heart and mind to call Him whenever you're in distress or feeling low.
Trust me, prayer is the best and most effective way to motivate yourself in every situation.
Final Words
Lastly, I would say, stay calm and composed. Look around you and observe. You will see millions of people and living creatures around the world may be in a worse situation than you are. Be grateful for what you have.
Remember, everyone has his or her unique way to pursue the goal. So, it makes every person motivate him/herself in a unique way too. Be patient and persevere. Keep looking for your motivation until you find it.
Always give your best effort. Results may count the most but eventually, your true efforts remain invaluable; something that motivates you for your future endeavor.
We might need to motivate ourselves our entire life on but not each moment 24/7. There's hardly motivation needed for what we like or easily do. It's more if it comes to things we do not like, aren't good at yet or in situations we don't feel too well and/or have to be in an environment with people who make life a hell.
A good article but not a freewrite and not written in ten minutes time. Nevertheless a big 👍.
