Bangladesh leads First to sell generic version of Remdesivir to treat Covid-19!
Bangladesh's Beximco pharmaceuticals Ltd. said that it has become the world's first company to start selling the generic version of Gilead Science Inc.'s antiviral drug on mounting urgency to treat the infection caused by the deadly coronavirus across the debeloping world.
The Dhaka based Baximco, which counts Norges Bank as one of its investors, will sell remdesivir for about 71$ (6000 BDT) a vial to private clinics but will give it free to state-run hospitals to treating Covid-19 patients. Norway's Norges Bank the world's biggest sovereign fund controls 3% of Beximco according to data complied by Bloomberg. Beximco will sell the drug under the brand name bemsivir, according to the statement of the compan. The chief operating officer of the company mentioned this news in an interview.
" A critically ill Covid-19 patients will need at least six vials", he said. Bangladesh can produce generic versions of patented drugs under World Trade Organisation (WTO) provisions that grant least developed countries a wavier from seeking licenses. Remdesivir was cleared by U.S drug regulator for emergency use in Covid-19 patients, becoming the first medication backed by early clinical data to be made available to fight the novel pathogen.
Note: Bangladesh has now more than 30,000 infected patients as of today, 2.00 pm. These disease has killed 386. The number of infection and death rate in rising alarmingly. Also Bangladesh reports first Covid-19 case at Rohingya Refugee Camp.

Yeah you are right. Though the company is now selling this drug through expensive prices. But i think when the product become available they may sell it with reasonable Prices.

I think the lack of raw materials and other staffs like communication lacking, unable to making proper reconciliation in this Covid-19 situation is also related with this pricing system.

Remdesavir is a one type of antiviral drug which is not specific for covid -19. but in some patient success rate is high.
As i guess we are far from getting Vaccine, so that now Remdesivir is our only light in this ocean of dark.
Yes.. you can say that so.. i don't know about when the vaccine will arrive.. At this it's really necessary.
But ultimately we need vaccine to treat this deadly disease.otherwise it's impossible to control Corona virus
In 1918 when the spanish flu was spread all over the world it lasts around 1920. The vaccine of this virus was invented in 1938 after 20 years!! Don't know how much time we need to get the vaccine of this deadly virus.
Scientist & researchers are working on this project. Already they have made a trial on human.
Yes, It was first trailed from Oxford University. I heard that there is 90% chance of total recovery by the Vaccine. Hope that may work for all.

Yes it is @Monskins. Actually Vaccine is the thing that you can Trust with. The effect of vaccine is life time. But medicines are not trustworthy because it is not long lusting.

It is not said people will be cured. This medicine is not tested long enough. How about side effects? In the '60s we had for years handicapped children worldwide, the vaccine against the Mexican flu (Influenza A) damaged many their immune system seriously...
I didnot mean it for this medicine! I just wished for people to be cured.

Let's hope the side effects of this medication will not be as worse as what we had in the past with many meds and vaccinations that were not properly tested. The medical magazine The Lancet is very sceptic about it. I wonder why you have so many infected people. East Europe has hardly any and in Europe the infections are decreasing since March 23, 2020. Are all people diabetic, overweight, high blood pressure? With us we never did wear a face mask. 💕
Actually Remdesivir tested almost zero side effects when it is applied to the Covid patients. So i think it will be safe though it is not ensure 100% corona virus damage.
This is all under clinical trial. Still there is no definitive treatment for covid-19. Hoping for the best.
