Without going into the documentary analysis about taking pictures, I am going to talk briefly.
1) - Picture size
2) - Taking pictures with digital camera or mobile
Answer No. 1 --- Drawing pictures of animals is forbidden. Everyone agrees.
No. 2 is the provision of taking pictures with digital camera or mobile.
There are two aspects to the camera mobile image ..
A) - Is it like a picture of Aka in hand?
B) - Consider its practical aspects.
* Camera picture that is not printed. In mobiles, electronic devices exist in memory. What is its provision?
- According to some scholars in Arabia and most of the scholars in the subcontinent, it is also haram. Cannot be used without legal requirements.
- According to most scholars in Arabia and a number of scholars in the subcontinent, the provisions of digital cameras or mobile phones are not like hand-drawn pictures. The provisions of the two are not one. However, since it is similar to hand drawing and causes fetish, it is better not to take pictures unnecessarily. That is the precaution.
This is the basic discussion of mobile photo. Although scholars disagree on this point, no one disagrees on the practical side.
Practical aspects--
Showing pictures to Gair Mahram. Publicly posting pictures on Facebook. Or publish your picture in front of a person who needs to be screened in the friend list. Or uploading a picture of a boy with this intention, so that the girls are attracted to see. All this is illegal.
* Taking selfies ---
It is a useless work. One of the attributes that Allah Ta'ala mentions to the believers is "those who abstain from useless deeds"! (Surah Muminun-3)
The key word in a selfie is to capture yourself or a special moment. What is the motivation of this concept, what is the purpose? Usually it is fulfilling the desires of the mind, momentary joy and presenting oneself to others.
This mentality of pretending to be praised is not compatible with Islam. Sometimes it goes to the stage of Shirke Asghar. If it is a selfie of good deeds or worship. Such as Hajj, mosque or charity selfie.
From this discussion we came to know about the practical aspects / provisions regarding image size. Besides, I also came to know about the two opinions of the scholars regarding the provision of pictures on mobile. The question may still remain in anyone's mind? If I don't show it to anyone, can I take a picture? Or not?
Although like the scholars, they have some things in common. Such as--
1- Sharia can be taken if necessary. E.g., passport, certificate. If necessary to spread Islam, etc ..
2- Don't take useless pictures. Everyone agrees that this should not happen. Some are harsh, some are soft. But the statement is almost the same, most of our pictures fall into this category. This picture is also the source of many fetna. May Allah protect us all ,,, Amen ..
