The Mother of the Poor

Aling Osang has always suggested that engineer Monching's son should only marry a rich man because he holds a high position in the company and is still a topnotcher on the board exam. So it was only his anger and shock when he learned that his neighbor Corazon had been the child's girlfriend. She didn't like this woman. He would make a way to keep the two apart.

Aling Osang spoke to the son, gesturing to Corazon.

“But Mom, Corazon is my love and he loves me too. He is kind, hardworking, respectful, and you know the family. He was also an outstanding teacher. Why don't you want him? "

“I want you to get rich. If it were just Corazon, I couldn't agree. ”

“But, Corazon is not difficult, Mama. They have a home, a store and a coconut. ”

“But they aren't rich either! There was a shop and a coconut tree, and the three brothers and sisters would part with each other. You might just lean on his family someday. More than Corazon is the woman I wish for you, son. Please don't disappoint me. ”

Monching had just been quiet so that their argument could not be delayed. She was an only child and grew up obedient.

More than two years passed quickly.

Aling Osang received a letter from Monching. He was married and had children in Bacolod.

One part of the letter said:

We bought a house and a house full of expensive furniture. I also have a playhouse on the side of the house. I wish I could give you many grandchildren, Mama. It includes Twenty-thousand pesos for your dad's vacation here in Bacolod. I look forward to you on Sunday.

Aling Osang excluded the letter.

“It's only Tuesday now, I can't wait for the day of the week. I'm eager to see them. ”

The same day the couple traveled from Bohol to Bacolod via Cebu. As they entered the child's home, at the gate they were met by the maid and found out that Monching was not there. The man is in Davao with Father-in-law and is still on Saturday night.

It was Wednesday so the couple decided to wait for the child instead of returning to Bohol.

Lanie, Monching's wife, came out the door. It was nice but why didn't they just say it when the maid told them who they were. Although they did not smile, they formally said:

“Monching isn't here yet. If you wait, that's fine. ”

The assistant was ordered to deliver the two to its playhouse on the side of the house.

Aling Osang had been in the playhouse for three days and three nights, providing food for the maid, but they had never been inside the mansion. They never saw or spoke to the daughter-in-law again as if they were still deep in love.

Saturday noon. Lanie came out of the house, along with a babysitter with a calf. Aling Osang approached immediately, eagerly embracing and kissing the grandson. Lanie angrily said, "That's right, the boy might be upset!" He got in the car, along with his son and nanny, and left the gate. The deceased assistant said that Lanie was going to the mother's house not far there, then would be at the airport to meet her father and Monching.

Aling Osang felt excited. The couple took a bath in the small bathroom on the side of the playhouse. She was dressed and eagerly waiting for the son to arrive. They could now enter the great house, Aling Osang thought. She could already see inside.

But deep into the night, Monching was still missing, as was Lanie. They had fallen asleep waiting.

Sunday morning. Aling Osang woke up knocking on the door. The maid said Monching's return would be delayed next week as another project is underway. Aling Osang was given two-thousand pesos to the maid. Lanie is giving fare to Bohol back.

“Inside the boat, Aling Osang thought of the beloved son, Why does it seem so difficult to see her? It has been almost three years since he was separated. Would it be nice to be with a beautiful and wealthy wife but a bad habit? If Corazon was Monching's heir, how many grandchildren could he now embrace and compare with?

Aling Osang apologized. He was the reason Monching moved away and worked elsewhere. When will they be reunited? He knew Boho would not come home Bohol to avoid Corazon who has continued to love and hope.

If Aling Osang had been ignorant, he would have seen the value of good behavior more than material wealth.
