Confusions arise when controversies about Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer, spread throughout the world. NASA stated that there are thirteen constellations lying in the ecliptic - an apparent path in the sky that the sun follows. However, NASA points out that they don't intend altering the zodiac, since astronomy has a great difference to astrology. Ophiuchus may be new to our knowledge yet it already existed way back then. It is said that the ancient Babylonians made the 12 signs of the zodiac to match their 12-month lunar calendar. They ignored the fact that the sun moves through 13 constellations and chose to get rid of Ophiuchus as one of the zodiacs.
Ophiuchus falls between Scorpio and Sagittarius. If it is considered as a sign, it doesn't have an element, an opposite, and it can't even experience polarity unlike the other astrological signs. For those who are born between Nov. 29 and Dec. 17, the sun has placed itself in the constellation Ophiuchus. If so in case, the said constellation will be the thirteenth sign, the zodiac dates will also be affected. With the new calendar, a lot of people will suddenly be shifted under a new sign.
Just a reminder, a sign of the zodiac should not be confused with a constellation and Ophiuchus has long been considered not a sign; still, everything will be based on one's own perspective.
