What keeps you creative? What's important to keep creativity alive?
What keeps you creative?
When I was a child, my parents made sure that we were well-rounded individuals. My father worked long hours and my mother stayed home to provide for our family. We never spent a lot of time arguing which I believe helped us grow up and become independent people who could make the very best decisions for ourselves. In adulthood, we also had some difficulties where we’d have to make difficult choices about how to spend our money without hurting others. But, it was one of those moments where, after a good day of work, I didn’t feel inspired to write anything at all or do any projects outside of what life was providing me.
When you’re surrounded by a sea of others who need your help and push you forward, it makes it much easier to think creatively and have some fun. That’s a great way to get motivated when the going gets tough. When you’ve been successful in something, like school, work, etc., you want to go back so you can improve on what you did that is making more progress toward where you want to be. And by having this type of perspective, you’ll find inspiration in everyday life to take on bigger challenges that will help you figure out what you want to achieve in the future. It’s like everything feels like a challenge — even when you’re doing things well — and it makes it even harder to not try hard enough to keep yourself interested and invested.
What's important to keep your creativity alive?
And you know what’s important? There are two things that keep creativity alive in yourself— your mindset and your surroundings. If you have a positive attitude, you’re always looking for ways to bring ideas together in new perspectives or work together in a productive way. The positive thinking that comes from positive people and experiences can often lead you into finding solutions to problems instead of just trying to fix them. So when you’re not getting the stimulation that you need, it can be scary, but don’t let that stop you because you can always see another solution and you may be able to come up with something. Not everyone has a positive outlook, though, and it can be easy to stay stagnant and start to dwell on negative patterns when times get tough. A positive mindset is always there when you need it and it could mean the difference between being stuck at a dead end and moving forward.
And if you’re not surrounded by people who are supportive, you have to fight through the things that are challenging you in order to keep thinking and thinking until you get what you want and don’t give up. For instance, if you’re struggling with depression, you can often find yourself feeling helpless and alone to make yourself feel better, but it’s worth fighting back against the mental battle. This doesn’t mean that you should use willpower to control negative emotions, though. Instead, it means that you have to face whatever problem that they’re facing and then decide whether or not you’ll push them out of their comfort zone enough to give yourself a little room for success.
There’s still plenty of people out there struggling with things like depression, anxiety, and overcoming personal failures that you’re bound to feel like sometimes. Sometimes you just need someone else to share in the struggles you’ve faced, and sometimes it helps to draw inspiration from those around you. You can look at people who are successfully overcoming their own hardships and find inspiration in yours. To find these types of people in life, you can search online for psychology experts and therapists who are helping people overcome obstacles that will inspire you to move forward. People who are working towards a degree, job, or learning to speak English may be able to help you find people who are currently pursuing similar goals. You can learn something by reading about how they overcame their own obstacles and find that person in you who wants to do the same thing. Plus, find like-minded people that genuinely care about you, like you.
If you are a creative person, you’ve probably asked yourself “What keeps me creative?" at some point.
There are many things that can prevent creativity, and there are also many different types of creativity. Saying that someone is more creative than the other may not really be accurate. Creativity is not something you have or don’t have; it’s something we experience in different ways.

- Brainstorming: Write down everything that comes to mind and don't worry about the quality of the idea.
- Exploring your surroundings: Take a walk, see what's happening on social media, or watch a documentary about something related to your niche. - Blanket time: Turn off all screens for 30 minutes and close your eyes. Let boredom set in and don't worry about how productive it is.
- Get outside help: The internet is an endless resource for ideas, so if you have a question type it in Google and see what pops up.
