Should You Be Judged By Your Social Media Posting?
Should you be judged by your social media posting? This has become an increasingly common question, especially in the modern technological world we live in today. While it seems like a simple question at first, there are many aspects to it and not everyone will agree with your answer, no matter how convincing it is. There are many people who say that social media should be completely private and personal and while this can be true, there are also people who feel that the more public you make your social media profile, the more transparent you are to the rest of the world and therefore the easier it should be to judge you by your postings.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
In today's world, it's hard to avoid social media. It's become such a large part of our lives that some employers are now requiring applicants to provide their social media handles as part of the application process. This raises the question: should people be judged by their social media posting? Many may say yes and argue that social media can often paint an accurate picture of someone's personality or lifestyle. But others might argue against this and insist that there is no need for judgment because everyone has the right to privacy.
The real issue here is not whether or not we should judge someone based on what they post online, but rather who gets to make this judgment call in the first place? When you apply for a job, does your potential employer have a right to look at your Facebook profile before making a decision about hiring you? What if you don't want them looking at your profile but they do anyway because they think they have every right to do as it will help them know your personality better, so- who wins in this situation?
WHY DO PEOPLE USE THIS ARGUMENT AGAINST INSTAGRAM USERS?
People use this argument against Instagram users because they believe that Instagram people show a complete fake lifestyle and set fake beauty standards that are impossible to achieve as they have thousands of filters on and people believe anything they post, but that doesn't go for all the Instagram users that's why some people say that people are judged by their social media posting, and that this is unfair. Furthermore, they argue that social media posting does not reflect a person's true character. Finally, they contend that people should be judged by their actions, not by their social media posting. In conclusion, there are two points of view when it comes to the question of whether or not you should be judged by your social media posting. The first point of view believes that, No people should not be judged by their social media postings, while the second point of view believes that people should be.
THE ANSWER - YES, PEOPLE WILL JUDGE YOU BASED ON YOUR INSTAGRAM FEED
In a world where we are constantly connected to social media, it's no surprise that people will judge you based on your online presence. And while you might not think that your Instagram feed is a reflection of your personal brand, it actually is. So, if you're not careful, you could end up damaging your reputation without even realizing it. Here are a few things to keep in mind -You never know who is watching your social media account. Keep this in mind when posting anything that could be misinterpreted.
-Your posts don't have to reflect all aspects of your life - use discretion and decide what should be public and what should be private.
-Posting too much or too little can also hurt your reputation so find the balance between frequency and quality that works for you.
HOW TO NOT LET THAT AFFECT YOU (TWO APPROACHES)
We've all seen it before. Someone says something on social media and then gets called out for it by complete strangers. While it's easy to get wrapped up in the drama of it all, there are two approaches you can take to not let that affect you.
First, you could put yourself in their shoes and realize that everyone makes mistakes. Everyone knows this feeling - of posting a tweet or an Instagram post without thinking about what it might mean to others. It's important to remember that we're all human beings with flaws and weaknesses. And sometimes those weaknesses can show through on our social media platforms, and that everyone has different opinions on things so we should respect theirs too.
2nd, If someone does make a mistake, we should be able to call them out for it in order to teach them from their mistake. But we shouldn't spend too much time focusing on the negativity. Instead, be grateful for those moments when someone says something positive or uplifting and make sure you give them credit where credit is due!
MY PERSONAL SOLUTION
I think that people should not be judged by their social media posting. I believe that everyone has a right to privacy and that what someone posts on social media is their own business. However, I also think that if someone is posting something that could be harmful to themselves or others, then it is important to intervene. One example of this would be if someone was openly discussing about suicide online. If you were concerned about the person, then you might consider reaching out to them privately instead of posting on their page in order to show support. There are many situations where an intervention is needed but there are also situations where an intervention is not needed, so keep that in mind.
