Hello everyone I hope you guys are having a great day it's exam season and I'm making self notes like always so I've decided to share some here to because I've the most interesting subject (Literature) and some good stories to tell I'll explain them all in my own words and will prepare for my exams too +_+
So the first story is
MERCHANT OF VENICE
The story opens in Venice where a merchant named Antonio invests his money on some ships that are going to sea and he's hopeful for a good profit.
He's a good human being
A Christian, and people like him a lot because of his nature. he has so many friends but somehow he's not happy and doesn't know the reason.
One of his friends basonio comes to him asking for some financial help because he's in love with a girl named Portia but her father wants her to Marry a rich man who will have to solve a puzzle to win her.
Antonio promises to help him and went to a cruel Jewish moneylender Shylock on behalf of Basonio. Antonio and shylock hate each other because one is Jewish and one is Christian but Antonio still comes to him for a business deal because of his friend. Shylock think of it as a good way to take back revenge for all his humiliation that he had to face because of Antonio by the Christians, and says that he'll lead him money but if he fails to return the money on time then Shylock will claims a pound of Antonio's flesh. Antonio agrees because he is sure to get a profit from the ships. here in Belmont city where Portia lives, we see prince of different countries are trying their luck to win Portia and try to solve the three boxes puzzle but they fail to choose the right box.
here in Venice, we see the daughter of Shylock running away from the house because she wants to marry a Christian and her father won't let her do so, she leaves with all his money and jewels.
Basonio comes to Belmont city to try his luck and he selects the right box and wins the love of his life they exchange rings and He promises to not give this ring to anyone. his friend Gratiano also marries her maid. but the guys soon have to leave Belmont because they hear the news that the ships of Antonio are lost in the sea and Shylock is asking for Antonio's flesh in court. Portia and her maid also dress up as men and to go to Venice and help their friends. Here in court, Shylock is ready to take the flesh when the two girls arrive as lawyers and start solving the case at first Portia discuss the whole case in which Shylock is a clear winner but then suddenly she put the torch on two important laws in which are
1) outsiders can't shed nation's blood
2) outsiders ( Jewish) can't hurt or kill the Christians.
according to which the Court finds Shylock to be guilty and decide to take all his money but Antonio make a deal with him to accept Christianity.
the boys Gratiano and Basonio get so happy that they give their rings to the lawyers later discovering that those lawyers were their wives the Story ends on a happy note where Antonio's ships return with profit, the couples are happily married and the daughter of Shylock marries the love of her life.💜
