Being dependent is not always reliable especially at the end of the day, when we're the only one left, so better rely on our own and be independent as much as possible.
No man is an island, we often hear that quote around, giving emphasis that we humans can't live alone without other people's help. I agree to that since there are actually some things that we can't perform with just our own and we need guide or scaffolding to accomplish something successfully from more knowledgeable others.
But, continuously relying on others without even learning how to do something alone is a different story and shouldn't be tolerated. It's okay to ask for help for the first time but, please, don't abuse someone's kindness wherein you will surrender your life fully to them and they will be the one in charge of your welfare.
I remember my instructor's story about this topic. When she's still the principal in one of the public schools in our city, there are some beggars hanging around their school asking for money. Of course, as a highest authority in that school and considering that she has a good heart together with other teachers there, they often give money to the beggars.
One of the beggars introduced himself as a blind person and that made everyone sympathized on his condition. But, eventually, that instances lasted for how many months and it seems like their whole living is dependent on the money that everyone in that school is giving.
It's not that the teachers and my instructor who was the principal that time were complaining, but, they are a bit worried about the situation. Little did they know, that everything is just a modus of those beggars. Those beggars are actually capable of working and the one who said that he was blind is not actually having problems in his eyes since when he went out of the school, he can walk straight without anyone's guidance and he can even see the vehicles around.
That made me realized that being dependent is dangerous and it won't help anyone at all for a long time. When continuously ask for help and refuse to do the work on our own, we can never be successful in everything.
Another instance where self-reliance could be seen is when studying in school especially since most of the students now are in distance learning or online class.
Spoon-feeding is not the trend anymore and will never be because it just teaches the students to be dependent on their teachers. One of the visions of our school is for the student to become self-reliant, meaning they don't want us to be dependent but, instead be independent on our studies and doesn't always rely on what our teachers are discussing. There are instances wherein the teachers will commit mistakes on the topics they're teaching so, we students must learn how to study on our own so that, we can correct each other's mistakes and learning becomes more effective as it is more active and not just a passive one.
There are still other situations/instances that we can relate to being self-reliant and I know, most of you have their own experiences about this one.
Maybe, some of you already heard from your parents or teachers about being independent. At an early age, our parents taught us how to cook, clean the house, do the laundry, do earning jobs and many more, and the reason for all of that is, they want us to live independently even without other's help. They want us to survive by being knowledgeable about how to provide our own physiological needs, and doesn't always rely on the elders or other knowledgeable persons.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Self-reliance is a must and we should learn about that as early as now. We have to train ourselves to be independent so, when there will be a situation when we cannot ask for anyone's help, we can do everything on our own to survive.
Learning this isn't always about selfishness, but rather a practical mindset and skill. We can't assure ourselves that there will always be someone staying beside us so, just to be ready or prepared, we have to practice ourselves to independently do something that will help us to survive on a daily basis.
Part of self-love is self-reliance, so if we really love ourselves, we have to learn being independent.

I agree with you dear,we should not depend on others instead try to achieve enough to fulfil our basic needs. I am sad to hear that beggars spoke lie and trying to deceive other by getting sympathy.
