Most of us have this habit of telling lies without knowing the possible consequences that may arise in the end. We cannot also deny the fact that it becomes natural for us to not tell the truth for quite some time even though we know that it's never been good.
Furthermore, we all have different reasons why we chose to tell lies rather than saying the truth. It maybe to protect someone, to make excuses, to degrade others, to make someone happy, and among others.
As we go through this article, I will discuss to you the different types of lies that lots of people usually commit.
By understanding these things, we can further recognize and analyze the issues that all the liars in the world are going through.
Okay, so let's start....
1. White Lies
White lies are considered as the least serious type of lies. White lies are often use to make excuses or to reason out without being rude to someone. Let's say for example, instead of saying "I don't want to go with you in the party" as a way of rejecting someone who wants to date you in a party, you will rather say "I'm sorry but I still have my assignment to work on tonight" even though you don't really have your assignment or you're already done with it in the previous days. In that case, you can reject someone in a nice and polite way without saying the harsh truth.
2. Lies of Deception
This type of lies often used by a deceiver to create or show an impression to mislead someone. Instead of showing others the real you, you act like a different person (especially as an ideal one) to impress them or to fit yourself their. Let's say for instance, you act like a rich and classy person even though you are poor to be accepted by your friends who belonged to an elite family. The reason here is kinda serious as it has something to do with social acceptance. But then, pretending to be someone by hiding the real you reveals how low your self-esteem is, wherein you are not that confident enough to flaunt who you are and you are letting others validate your worth and disregard your love for yourself.
3. The lies of fabrication
Fabrication of lies means convincing someone that what you're saying is true even though it is completely false. This type of lies may adversely affect someone because it can ruin their reputation and image to the public. Rumors or gossips are some of the examples of lies of fabrication wherein you are spreading news/information about someone which is not really true. For example, you are spreading rumors in your school that one of your classmate aced the exam due to having cheat sheet even if you don't have enough evidences to prove its truthfulness and you are just being jealous with that classmate of yours because he might exceed you in the honor roll. Another example is when you gossip about your teacher having an affair with the principal which is intended to stain the reputation of the teacher you hated the most because he/she gave you a low academic mark in one of your subjects.
4. Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a type of lie wherein you are copying someone's work and calling it as your own. In that case, it's like saying to everyone that you are a good writer because of an excellent essay you've submitted to your teacher even though you are not the one who wrote it. Most of us often commit plagiarism especially if we are running of time to think and create something originally. Plagiarism is a crime, yes. It will never be okay to claim someone's work as it shows how disrespectful you are to the original creator.
5. Broken Promises
Failure to keep one's promises is a very painful kind of lie. It's like saying to your partner that you'll stay and love him/her until your last breath but after a week/year, you end up breaking up with him/her because you did fell out of love and you love someone else already.
Another examples are the promises made by our government officials during election. Some of them even said that they will serve the public with all of their hearts, fairly and justifiable, and promises to use the government funds in a right way, but they end up corrupting the funds and use it to make themselves rich and sleep in a pile of money.
There are still lots of lies that usually speak by our mouth aside from what I've mentioned in this article.
Admit it or not, we are all telling lies for several reasons, but we must keep in mind that making it as a habit will never make us a good person. If you cannot stop yourself from telling lies instantly, then might atleast reduce it and completely refrain from telling it eventually as time passes by.
Guilt will never haunt us down if we are not hiding the truth.
Just like what Jesus said, "the truth will set you free."
