A clinic in Gaibandha has sold a newborn born by caesarean section. The parents sold Adar's child as they could not afford to pay the bill of Tk 16,000 for the caesarean operation.

Then they went home crying. The incident took place on September 18 at the Jamuna Clinic in Gaibandha. After learning about the matter, the district administration intervened and the newborn was returned to his mother's lap. Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin has taken charge of the child's upbringing after returning him to his mother's lap.

On Wednesday (September 23) afternoon, the Gaibandha district administration provided financial assistance including medical treatment to the child's mother Anguri Begum and her child. The DC went to the house of Shahjahan Miah of Sholagari village in Ghagoa union of Sadar upazila and provided the assistance.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Prasun Kumar Chakraborty, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nahidur Rahman, PIO Anisur Rahman and Gaibandha Press Club Joint Secretary Abedur Rahman Swapan were present on the occasion.

According to local sources, Amena Begum, wife of Shahjahan Miah, a day laborer from Sholagari village in Ghagoa union of Sadar upazila, was admitted to Jamuna Clinic on September 13 on the advice of a local doctor.
Amena gave birth to a baby girl by caesarean section there. He was admitted to the clinic till September 18. At the time of release, the bill of the clinic is 16 thousand rupees.
