In this key role, you’ll take accountability for all financial reporting and control activities for the ring-fenced bank franchises and legal entities
This will include the review, challenge and analysis of monthly and quarterly core numbers and disclosures
It’s an opportunity to build and enhance key senior level relationships and hone your leadership and people management skills
What you'll do
As NatWest Holdings Financial Controller, you’ll be leading a team of finance professionals to deliver financial control and reporting activities to the ring-fenced bank franchises and oversee and execute legal entity control activities. You’ll be reporting to the Director of Financial Control and play a key role as part of the Financial Reporting & Control leadership team, with responsibility for strategic direction setting and leadership initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing quarterly updates on the legal entity financials to the bank’s Audit Committee, Executive Disclosure Committee and the legal entity deputy CFOs
Working with stakeholders across Finance, Risk, and more widely with franchises to establish and maintain processes and controls, to ensure the integrity of the ledger is maintained
Delivering mandatory and strategic programmes that impact statutory and management reporting outputs
Leading a step change in our people capabilities, making sure our Finance colleagues are equipped for the current and future evolution of Finance
Helping to shape the strategy and operating model for Financial Control with the overriding objective of establishing and maintaining the trust and confidence of the key customers and stakeholders
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone with a professional accounting qualification, with a strong record of application, preferably from within the financial services industry. You’ll have extensive experience of leading large teams of finance professionals in a global finance environment, and you’ll need to have the ability to effectively manage resources at pace across fast moving programme activities, all while maintaining control. It will also be crucial that you have the ability to build key relationships at a senior level, influencing and challenging as required.
You’ll also demonstrate:
Extensive experience of leading the delivery of internal and external financial control and reporting outputs, including ledger close, balance sheet substantiation, statutory and management reporting, and external audit
Significant, in depth and up-to-date knowledge of statutory reporting requirements
An awareness of regulatory requirements applicable to UK banks
Knowledge of change best practice and experience of delivering change in the financial services industry
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly articulate issues to senior management
