Planning Minister MA Mannan said Bangladesh is on the right track to achieve its desired development goals. If political stability as well as working environment is always maintained, then we can do much better. He was speaking as the chief guest at a public awareness meeting on 'Vision 2041 Realization: Bangladesh Perspective Plan 2021-2041' at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar NEC meeting room in the capital. The General Economics Department of the Planning Commission convened the meeting.

Calling the perspective plan a "document of the future", MA Mannan said the plan was very promising and needed to be exploited. Noting that various positive changes have taken place in the country in the last 12 years under the leadership of the present government, he added, "We are having a good time and hope it will continue. But unexpectedly, we will be able to overcome the Covid-19 superhero we are facing now. 'He said Bangladesh is one of the best planning countries in the world. We have future action plans like Annual Development Program (ADB), Perspective Plan, Five Year Plan and Delta Plan.

Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said, "Perspective Plan 2021-2041 is basically a future directional plan which will be completed through the implementation of various investment plans." Noting that Bangladesh is a very successful country in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), he added that the perspective plan will be achieved through successful implementation of investment plans like the Five Year and ADB. Emphasizing on the improvement of the Easy Doing Business Index, Anwarul Islam said the index plays a key role in attracting foreign investment. Expressing hope that the per capita income of Bangladesh will improve to 12,500 US dollars by 2041, he said that concerted efforts are essential for this.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ahmed Kaikaus said, "We have made progress in various sectors besides good governance." Now to get better results, the government has continued with result-oriented frameworks like the Annual Performance Agreement (APA). Noting that the size and purchasing power of the country's economy is increasing, he added that if other indicators of the economy, including per capita income, continue to grow, the desired goal can be achieved.

Planning Commission member said. Shamsul Alam said the perspective plan 2021-2041 is a living document and it will be reviewed in 2030. Earlier in February, the National Economic Council (NEC) approved the Second Perspective Plan (2021-2041) with the goal of becoming a high-middle-income country in 2041 and a middle-income country in 2031. The country's first perspective plan (2010-2021) is in the final stages of implementation.

Shamsul Alam said in his article that the perspective plan is a historical document of the institutional pillar of good governance, democratization, decentralization and efficiency enhancement for the next 20 years after 2021-2041. In 2041, the current per capita income will be 12,500 dollars. By 2031, the country's GDP growth will reach 9 percent and in 2041 it will reach 9.9 percent. In 2031, the poor will stand at 9.4 percent. Extreme poverty will reach zero by 2031 and the poverty rate will be 3 percent in 2041. / Source: Bass
