One of the areas inhabited by Tarsius is Tangkoko Batuangus Nature Reserve, North Bitung District, Bitung City, North Sulawesi. This 8,745-hectare nature reserve is a sanctuary for Sulawesi black monkeys and tarsius.

Because the smallest, Tarsius, primate which has super round eyes, looks very adorable.

Tarsier, quoting from tn-babul.org, is a monotype genus of the family tarsius, endemic primates spread across Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and the Philippines.

This rare animal is a vertical gripping and jumping animal, and also has a long, fast streak. Nocturnal, tarsius are rarely seen in open areas.

Its body size is about the size of an adult mouse. Weight about 120 grams when mature, body length of about 13 cm and tail length ranging from 15 cm to 20 cm. Almost all of her body was covered with thick, silky gray hair.

Tarsius has hind legs that are twice the length of the body and head to provide jumping power because most of the movement of the tarsius is to jump vertically.

This animal is a nocturnal or nocturnal fauna, it is very active at night in search of food. After being passive throughout the day, the tarsius turns into agile at the turn of the day or crespuscular. So a good time to see the animals is in the afternoon.

During the day, tarsius hide and sleep. He inhabits large trees, and generally the tarsius choose the banyan tree (Ficus sp) as the main nest. Tarsiers sleep by sticking to branches, unlike other mammals. When sleeping, tarsius can close only one eye.

The existence of this unique animal cannot be separated from threats. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has placed these animals in a vulnerable category. While Indonesia Government has included all animal taxa in protection in PP. No. 7/1999 and Law No. 5/1990.

And there are some people or groups who believe that tarsius are Yoda's inspiration, a character in the Star Wars film. This Yoda figure made by George Lucas, first appeared in "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980). As Grand Jedi Master Yoda, he trains the main warriors in the Star Wars story. Tarsius and Yoda both have big eyes, small bodies, and long ears and fingers. If you look and see it is similar, isn't it.
