There is a bridge that connects the villages but is not made by humans. Is it true ?
There used to be an old witty local cleric named Pakiah Sokan. The swift flow of the Bayang River made him take the initiative to make a simple bridge made of bamboo to connect the Pulut-pulut Village and the Lubuk Silau Village separated by river currents.
But slowly, the roots of the two trees that began to spread and wrapped around the bamboo bridge. After undergoing a long process, finally become a root bridge like now.
This bridge is located in Bayang Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province.
The Root Bridge is very old.
According to residents around, this bridge has existed since 1916, its age is more than 100 years.
The roots that wrapped around the bridge to what it is today are from the banyan tree. Somehow nature grows two banyan trees facing each other and separated by rivers to reunite later on.
If you are interested you can visit it where the Shadow Root Bridge can be reached in about an hour from Padang City by land vehicle, and half an hour from Painan City. From Painan, the capital of South Pesisir Regency, the distance is 24 km. While from the city of Padang, the distance is about 80 km through the Teluk Bayur.
Nice and well information.
