Beautiful flowers that we often encounter as ornamental plants in this home garden are plants from the order Malvaceae originating from East Asia. This beautiful shoe flower has five large flower petals with their stalks sticking out and decorated with pollen at the end. Although the shape is not at all like shoes, the only reason why it is called hibiscus is because this flower was used as a shoe polish material in India.

Not just a shoe polish, did you know that it turns out that hibiscus has many benefits? Check out the discussion about hibiscus below!

  • Flower shoes for fever, flu and malaria

  • The benefits of hibiscus to treat diabetes

  • Flower shoes can overcome thrush

  • Efficacy of shoe flowers for weight loss

  • Flower shoes can relieve Pre-Menstrual Syndrome

Beyond its main benefits as an ornamental plant, it turns out that hibiscus is very useful for hair health and beauty, such as overcoming hair loss and stimulating hair growth.

Here in the Philippines, hibiscus flower are also used for the treatment of boil. Though I am not sure if this has a scientific proof. But many old folks says that this works.
