Everyone has their own definition of happiness. Some define happiness when holding hands with their lover while enjoying the sunset on the beach. Others conclude that the definition of being happy is getting a gift or surprise on a birthday. There are also those who feel happy when they go on vacation with their family in a beautiful place.
Likewise with Icha. The little girl with the bald head has her own definition of happiness. Perhaps Icha's definition of happiness is different from other small children. It could be the same. But that doesn't matter, right?
For Icha, happiness is a packet of egg rice and a bottle of mineral water. Nothing could make him happy more than that simple meal. Even though it looks trivial, Icha is very difficult to get.
The girl without parents couldn't do any work. All day long he just stood at the red light pole beside the highway. Sometimes he also sits on a park bench or lies on the tree-roofed sidewalk.
Wearing dirty clothes, he usually puts on a weld face and occupies a certain place. Then if he is lucky, people who see him will feel pity and give happiness, a packet of egg rice and a bottle of mineral water.
But unfortunately, the people in this city are busy with their own business. Many of them do not care about the social and environmental conditions around them. That's what makes it difficult for Icha to get happiness.
The morning sunshine enveloped this great city. Icha seemed to be sitting stretching her legs. While his small back he leaned against the electric pole in the park. In this place there are a lot of displaced people. All gathered here to seek their respective happiness.
Icha got up from her seat and then walked towards a shop near the park. He is very hungry. He hasn't eaten in two days. So holding his stomach, he hobbled into the stall.
Inside the shop there are mothers who are busy with their cooking. While on the table, there is a wide variety of foods available. For the sake of looking at her, Icha's eyes glowed brightly like a full moon.
Without saying a word, Icha sat down on the available chair. The mothers didn't notice that a little girl entered the shop. Then Icha took the fried food and ate it.
Icha seemed to enjoy the food. He was very happy because eventually his stomach could fill with food. Not felt, he had finished four fried foods in one minute.
Icha's teeth grinding on food can be heard in the ears of the shop owners. The mother was surprised when she caught the figure of a little bald girl sitting casually in her stall. He also asked himself, who is this child? Where did it come from?
"Oi, who are you? Why are you suddenly in my shop? " asked the mother.
Icha just smiled sweetly and continued chewing the fried food.
"Oi, who are you? Why do you just walk into my shop? " the shop owner's mother approached Icha.
Icha didn't answer anything. She looked at the shop owner's mother with glowing eyes.
"O, little bald girl, whoever you are, get out of my shop!" snapped the mother.
“I'm just here to eat. I'm hungry, it's been two days I haven't touched food, ”Icha's voice sounded low.
“You can't touch the food here if you can't afford it. I'm sure you won't be able to pay for it. Even if you haven't eaten for a thousand years, I still don't care. People who can't pay can't eat here, ”with a very loud tone, the shop owner's mother glared her eyes at Icha.
“What kind of old man are you? Why don't you care about the suffering of this kid who has nothing? ” Icha's lips trembled.
“You damn little kid. How dare you say those words to me, "
"I just want to eat, that's all. No more. You are very stingy, "
"What are you saying? You insolent child, "
"You are very cheapskate. I pray that someday your grave will be narrow, "
Icha's last words made the shop owner's mother even more furious. The flow of blood within his body was running fast. Her eyes turned red as if she had just eaten a full plate of chili sauce. His teeth grinded. His emotions were running high and continued to mount.
Then he approached Icha with thirsty breath for air. Without thinking, he immediately hit Icha with his wide palm. The punch landed on Icha's bald head.
Hit by that blow, Icha's head fell to the side. He had not previously thought that the shop owner's mother would dare to play physically with him. But Icha's guess was wrong.
The blow didn't hurt Icha's head. However, stabbing Icha's heart. Now in his heart there was a needle that couldn't be pulled out. The needle went deeper and deeper and made him sick more and more.
"Go now, you insolent little boy. Go far away and don't set foot in this place again, ”the shop owner's mother snapped at Icha while banging on the dining table.
Icha didn't say anything else. Without seeing the shop owner's mother, he immediately walked out of the shop. The water that came from his eyes had pooled his cheeks. The tears flowed so hard they fell and hit the ground.
Icha doesn't know what else to do. Now that he knew, he was very sad. He wanted to complain, but did not know who to complain to. He wanted to hug someone, but he didn't have anyone. He wants to be happy, but it is very difficult for him to find happiness.
Since birth, Icha rarely looks happy. The world seemed to slip out of his hands. He was like a sheet of cotton that fell from a tall building, then flew around and finally fell limply on the ground.
Even though he has nothing, he still accepts his fate gracefully. Even though his life was hard, he continued to live it happily. Icha never complained at all about her current state.
At this time, the poor girl was taking shelter under a large tree in the garden. Her eyes were still swollen with tears that she couldn't stop. He was sad, but he still didn't hate the shop owner's mother. She is a very good girl. But unfortunately, everything is not good to him.
The little girl looked ahead. The emptiness was before his eyes and continued to fill his days. His gaze was hollow. He stared at something, but his reflection drifted to another world. He wanted to achieve something, but the world ran farther away from him.
At noon like this, visitors to the park have started a lot. Pair of lovers were sitting making out on a park bench. The children were laughing running around holding balloons. This park is already overflowing with happiness.
But when everyone is feeling happy, there is a little girl who is the opposite. The girl was stunned under the big tree. He heard the laughter of children his age. He saw a complete family gathered together. Now, Icha feels like a stranger who has never known the happiness of the world.
The wind sings to the ears. Two or three dry leaves began to fall off and fall on the ground. Icha still bent her knees and held her tightly. In fact he wanted to say something that was filling his mind. But he didn't know who he said it with.
In this park there is a child with his parents sitting on a bench. Icha observes the harmonious family behavior. Judging from their clothes and belongings, they seemed to be a rich family.
The mother took out a plastic bag from her bag. She took three packs of rice and invited her husband and children to eat together. The child unwraps his rice. And it turns out that their lunch menu is rice and fried eggs.
Icha who had been watching them all this time suddenly got excited. His eyes sparkled when he saw the packet of egg rice in the little boy's hand. That is his joy. Now that happiness is in sight. He wants to pick up that happiness. Even though he had to take it from other people.
He was confused what to do. He thought how he could get that packet of egg rice. He sighed, he prepared something to fetch his happiness.
When the rich family member was about to eat, suddenly his father's telephone vibrated. He immediately took it in his pants pocket. After that he chatted with another person on the other side. The father nodded, his face worried.
"We have to go now, honey," the father stroked his son's hair.
"Why, Pa?" asked the child curiously.
"I'll explain later in the car, yes. We have to hurry, dear, "the father smiled at his son.
"At least we eat first, Pa. We haven't eaten this morning, you know, ”said the mother.
"There's no time, Ma. We have to hurry, we can also do that in the car, right, "replied the father in a worried tone.
"All right," snorted the mother as she let out a soft breath.
Then they hurried off. Two packets of rice belonging to the father and mother that were not yet opened were placed in the bag. Meanwhile, the open bag of rice belonging to the child is left on the park bench.
Icha didn't pay attention to them in vain. Happiness was right before his eyes. He only had to take a few steps and immediately got a packet of egg rice that he craved.
Footsteps could be heard from his feet. He walked on the grass which was neatly lined up on the ground. Sunlight licked her smooth head without hair. But he still took steps to meet his happiness. He smiled, in three steps he would get the egg rice he wanted.
When it was about to touch the egg-rice wrap, a cat jumped and danced on it. Just like Icha, the cat doesn't seem to have eaten in days.
Without further ado, the cat immediately devoured the rice and eggs. Icha who was about to take a packet of rice was suddenly dumbfounded. He lost fast. He failed to pick up that happiness.
Meanwhile, the cat greedily continues to eat and rob Icha's happiness. Within two minutes, the rice and eggs were gone. The cat looked at Icha's face, which looked happy.
Icha looks happy. Icha's happiness now no longer lies in a packet of egg rice. He has found another happiness.
The cat smiled as if to thank Icha. He also approached the cat and stroked the fine hairs around his body.
The sun rose in the middle of the horizon, right above Icha's head. The smoke from factories and vehicles mixes with the air, tricking buildings, roads and everything. The breezy winds make out with the leaves and garden grass. A little girl with a bald head finally found her happiness. And everyone can have a variable definition of happiness, right?
