Airport Story

The airport is one of the places I can tolerate the crowd. The second order is the mall. Both places are crowded but not crowded enough to make me dizzy and refuse to deal with the pressures of other human crowds. Go to the mall just to stay in the cafe, order your favorite coffee and read a book. Until the slightest sip of coffee increased to more than one glass or I already wanted to end the session.

The routine is repeated every weekend for no apparent reason just because I feel that is the kind of relaxation that I think is fun.

But that is still nothing but the airport. When it comes to your favorite place to stay, the airport used to occupy the first place. Then came to the cafe that sells good coffee and a cozy place.

It is not now, because the first order has shifted the ranking into my working space at home.

But this post is indeed about the airport from my perception.

The airport is where people are too busy with their own affairs. Prepare for a journey that will likely meet those who have long been missed or with working relationships that have been waiting for their expectations. Think of plans and what will happen before, during, and after the flight.

Unlike malls where everyone is busy with shopping and activities, the airport is full of people busy with their heads.

In both places, you can feel yourself despite the fact that you are in the heart of the crowd. You can feel lonely and dig deep into your own mind.

People do not feel they have to act beyond the bounds of need. It is much less common for people to want to be too friendly or too curious about ourselves. Even just ask where we are going, if not feel the need.

Especially if the question then continues with for what interests we are traveling, what job we are pursuing, address where we live, social status, marriage, kinship, and so on.

People tend to be quieter and refuse to start a conversation even though they are sitting side by side in a restaurant, in the waiting room, or even in a cabin. More interested in seeing the scenery behind the windows, trying hard to see the flash of car and building lights among the blankets of the clouds and wondering what the moon looks like and the scattering of stars on a night trip. Or decide to close your eyes for the sake of a body that is addicted to rest.

Sometimes life is too noisy and tiring. Often we have to interact even though we do not really want to, we have to be friendly even though we are lazy, we have to gather even though what we really want to do is just sit and enjoy our own time.

The journey becomes the best pause where silence is an oasis in the heart of the crowd. Allowing us to think more and more deeply, allows us to appreciate whatever we need to think about further and how best to deal with it.

Among all the hustle and bustle, it turns out that silence in the crowd of people who do not know each other is something that I can simply appreciate.
