Saudi date cultivation method

There is a storm of discussion about the evils of climate all over the world. Day by day hostile climate is making us face various problems. Excess carbon emissions are raising sea levels as well as raising temperatures. As a result, various disasters like floods, storms, droughts are making our world unfamiliar.

Industrialized countries have a key role to play in changing this world. In this case, such as industrial fumes, waste must be treated. Besides, we have to make the world green by planting more trees. In this case we can plant Saudi palm trees along with other trees. There is a demand of 30,000 tons of dates in our country. We can meet most of this huge demand by cultivating date palms in the country. Our neighboring country Pakistan cultivates dates and exports about 90,000 tons per year. The soil of their country is not much different from the soil of our country. I am hopeful that if they can meet the demand of the country and export abroad then we will be able to meet the demand of the country even if we cannot export. Md. Mymensingh of Bangladesh. Motaleb Hossain has been cultivating Saudi dates in Bhaluka for the last nine years. At present there are about 20 date palms in his garden. He is getting 45 kg of dates a year from one tree. Md. Like Motaleb Hossain, if we cultivate date palms commercially, we will definitely get unexpected results. I started producing date seedlings in 2006. So far, I have sold hundreds of saplings to buyers. I hope that these saplings will flower next year but will bear fruit next year.

Rules of cultivation

Date palms can usually be grown in all types of soils. Even then it grows well in sandy and sandy loam soils. However, there must be drainage facilities.

Seedling production from seed

To produce seedlings from seeds, one third of the soil should be mixed with sand, ash, dung and compost manure. For 100 kg of soil, 500 g of ruton fertilizer should be mixed. After soaking the seeds in water for 24 to 48 hours, they should be sown in a half inch hole in the soil. Then give a little water so that there is no mud. Seedlings will germinate after 3 to 4 weeks after watering for 2 to 3 weeks. Then after 3 months mix 100 g urea in 1 liter of water and spray.

Planting method

The distance from one tree to another will be 15 to 20 feet. Choose a place where there is at least 5 to 6 hours of sunshine a day. It will reduce the growth of trees and diseases and pests. No more than 100 to 121 trees can be planted per acre.

Making holes: To plant date seedlings, make a hole 3 feet deep and 3 feet long and 3 feet horizontally. The top soil should be given below and the bottom soil above. If possible, it would be better to put the sun in the hole soil for 1/2 day. Soil powder can be mixed with soil to prevent insect infestation.

Fertilizer management

At the base of each tree a small amount of bone powder, 8 to 10 kg of dung manure should be mixed in each hole. 10 to 15 days after planting the seedlings should be sprayed with water at least 2 to 3 feet away from the mixed fertilizer plant. After planting, care should be taken to ensure that the roots of the seedlings do not dry out and mud does not accumulate in the excess water.

Pollination

Pollination of date palms is rarely done by insects, bees or wind. Pollination should be done by hand or by mechanical method. If there is only 1 male tree with 100 female trees in the garden, it is enough for pollination. In order to pollinate, after the flower buds of the female tree burst forth, the pollen powder of the male plant should be applied to the inflorescence of the female plant and the tip of the pollen should be tied with rope. Good results can be obtained by re-pollination 2/3 times after 2/3 days. If necessary, male plant powder can be imported from Saudi Arabia and stored in the fridge at a temperature of -4 to -18 degrees Celsius for 2 to 3 years.

Palm trees grow in infertile or even more saline areas. If dates are given 4-5 years after planting, dates are given continuously for 150 years, i.e. till they survive. Because dates are very nutritious, 1 kg of dates provides 3,460 calories to the body. Dates are rich in various elements including glucose, iron, magnesium, sulfur, copper, calcium, folic ascorbic acid. As the juice is obtained from the date palm, so is the wood of the tree available as fuel. The date palms help in creating a climate conducive to saline areas, river erosion, and agricultural work. In order to prevent river erosion in the current country, to reduce the temperature, above all, the new agricultural crop Saudi date palm can be a means of employment for the unemployed youth of the country.
