Police have arrested five people, including former VP of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Daksu) Nurul Haque Nur, in a rape case. He was arrested on Monday evening during a protest rally against the 'harassment case'. A student of Dhaka University (DU) has filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station.
Police arrested him and several other leaders of the Student Rights Council in front of the Matsya Bhaban in the capital. Earlier, a student of Dhaka University (DU) filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station on Sunday night. A total of six people have been accused in the case. Among them, Nurul Haque Nur has been mentioned as an accomplice in the rape.
The main accused in the case is Hasan Al Mamun, the convener of Bangladesh Student Rights Council. Hasan Al Mamun's house onNawabganj Bara Masjid Road of Lalbagh Police Station has been mentioned as the place of rape. The plaintiff student lives in Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of DU. On Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara accepted the statement of case and fixed October 8 for the submission of the report.
