Imran Khan life history
Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician, former cricketer, and the current Prime Minister of Pakistan. He was born on October 5, 1952, in Lahore, Pakistan, to a Pashtun family.
Khan grew up in a privileged background and attended Aitchison College, a prestigious school in Lahore, before going to the University of Oxford to study Economics and Politics. While at Oxford, he played cricket for the university team and later went on to play for the Pakistan national cricket team.
Khan began his cricket career in the 1970s and quickly gained a reputation as a talented all-rounder. He was known for his aggressive batting style and his ability to swing the ball as a fast bowler. He played for Pakistan for over 20 years, serving as captain of the team from 1982 to 1992.
Khan's greatest moment as a cricketer came in 1992 when he led Pakistan to victory in the Cricket World Cup. This win made him a national hero and brought him widespread acclaim both in Pakistan and around the world.
After retiring from cricket, Khan turned his attention to philanthropy and social activism. He founded the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore in memory of his mother, who had died of cancer. The hospital provides free cancer treatment to thousands of patients every year.
In 1996, Khan founded the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with the goal of transforming Pakistan's political system. He ran for office multiple times over the next two decades but was unsuccessful in winning a majority in the National Assembly.
In the 2018 general election, Khan's PTI party won a majority in the National Assembly, and he was sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18, 2018. As Prime Minister, he has focused on tackling corruption, promoting economic growth, and improving social services such as health and education. He has also played a role in mediating peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.
