Role of Mobile and Sleep in Time Management

The learning objective of time management workshops, according to western countries' paradigms, is to complete maximum tasks in twenty four hours. But I think our paradigm of time management should be a little bit different so that we can save some spare time after performing required tasks. This is completely opposite to western paradigm. When you relax yourself after performing required tasks, you feel happy and happiness is everything.

Second thing that you need to analyze is your twenty four hour work routine. Figure out where you are wasting your precious time. Apart from this, you need to see when I start my day and when I should start my day. My teacher taught me one thing that helped me a lot throughout my life, he said: always start your day at five am in the morning. Offer your morning prayer and do some meditation and exercise like yoga, jogging and stretching for some time. Assume you spend one hour on these things and most people go to office at nine o'clock so you still have three hours left to do some worthwhile things. In these three hours, perform all your works regarding reading and writing. For example, Read your emails and answer them, reply your WhatsApp messages, if you love writing articles then write, if you have to prepare a presentation then prepare it and if you love reading books then read books. By the time, when others start their day, you have finished your three hours. Only this step increases three to four hours in your life. But to take this step, there is a primary requirement that you have to go to bed at ten o'clock in the night.

On the contrary, most people utilize their time from ten o'clock to till sleep in non-productive things. Ninety percent contribution towards non-productive work is your screen. In other words, your screen time starts from ten pm to one am. You waste your precious three hour just to entertain yourself. According to medical science this is the worst time in twenty four hours to use the screen. When the sun starts setting, our body produces a hormone called melatonin and this hormone brings you towards sleep. It achieves its peak at around ten o'clock and this is the best time to sleep. And this sleep is called theta pattern sleep also known as non-rapid eye movement sleep. This is not a good time to perform productive tasks as in this time your body relaxes and your brain arranges all data in schema. I am sure you must have noticed one thing that when the sun rises in the morning, it produces white sun rays which are exactly the same as your mobile screen and these white rays produce arousal hormone which is opposite to melatonin. So when you look at your mobile at ten o'clock in night, it produces arousal hormones and your sleep gets disturbed which is really harmful to your health. When you go to sleep at one o' clock, this late sleep will not revitalize your body for the next day and at last you will take yawns in the morning and you will be unable to perform valuable things. So, a key point in time management is to hit the sack earlier and wake up early in the morning and minimize your screen time as much as you can. Moreover, always use screens for information and communication. Never use a mobile to entertain yourself because the playground, gyms and jogging courts are the best places for entertainment.

To put it into nutshell, change your sleeping habits and try to minimize your screen time so that you can manage your time. Moreover, by setting priorities to those works that will add value to your growth and by avoiding worthless activities, you can manage your time wisely.

Yes you are right, mobile has changed our living style. It is harmful for ourselves and we should try to minimise its use.
