A few hours ago, in a series of tweets, the CEO of the TRON Foundation, Justin Sun, announced that it is possible to start testing shielded transactions and invites the community to give feedback.

As is known, the introduction of shielded transactions on the TRON blockchain (TRX) was initiated several months ago and allows to hide the sender’s and recipient’s address, the input and output transaction and also the total transferred.

In order to do this kind of transactions, TRON decided to focus on the implementation of the zk-SNARK (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge) technology, which is already used on the Zcash (ZEC) blockchain to carry out the so-called shielded transactions.

In addition, TRON will use an MPC (Multi-Party Computation) protocol that serves to determine the parameters in which this technology is activated and to prevent it from being used to attack the blockchain using these anonymous transactions.

The system is currently being tested, which means that the collaboration of selected users is necessary: by sending an email to the dedicated TRON team it is possible to be chosen to test this new type of transaction. The whole procedure is explained on GitHub.

The numbers of the TRON blockchain are impressive both for the number of accounts, over 4 million, and for the number of handled transactions: in the last week alone there have been 6.4 million new transactions, in addition to the over 800 million total.

However, it should be borne in mind that recently TRON has been experiencing moments of ups and downs: after the acquisition by Justin Sun of the Poloniex exchange and the success of the Tether (USDT) stablecoin which has almost reached one billion dollars, TRON and Sun are still experiencing problems, to the point that they have been defined as the largest scam in history by the founder of the DigiByte project.
