The NEO blockchain, active since mid-October 2016, has seen an incredible development and growing interest over the years.
This has allowed it to have a greater speed and higher number of transactions compared to those that were available at the time.
Thanks to the analysis made by the researcher Christian Ott, it is possible to see how the NEO blockchain has evolved and what numbers it has reached, as well as the trend of the addresses involved on this blockchain.
As mentioned, the launch of the NEO blockchain took place in October 2016 and, until the end of that year, there were over 300,000 transactions. Only 6 months later, these reached over 800,000, closing 2017 with just under 5 million transactions.
However, it is in the first half of 2018 that there has been an explosion of transactions, which reached almost 10 million in the first six months, and then closed the second half of the year with just under 8 million. Unfortunately, though, in 2019 transactions dropped dramatically, reaching between 3 and 4 million, probably due to strong competition from projects such as EOS and TRON (TRX).
Just as the number of transactions increased between 2016 and 2018, so did NEO addresses. In 2016 there were more than 5 thousand addresses, in the following year there was an increase of almost 9000% with just under half a million. In 2018 there has been a doubling of addresses reaching more than 1 million, while last year, in 2019, only 200 thousand new addresses were created.
As for the total of NEO tokens divided among addresses, we see that only 441 addresses have more than 10 thousand NEO which, at the current price of $11, amount to $110 thousand, while addresses with 100 NEO are 4 thousand and addresses from 100 NEO to 1 NEO are the majority, more than 200 thousand.
Finally, the report concludes referring to the NEP-5 tokens: in first place, with over 8 thousand addresses, there is the Nash Exchange token (NEX), followed by Wowbit (WWB) with 1900 addresses and in third place the Switcheo token (SWTH) with 1840 addresses.
Surely 2019 has not been a spectacular year for the development of the NEO blockchain, especially considering the fact that one of the major players in the world of tourism, Travala, has migrated to Binance Chain.
