Coronavirus is currently a matter of panic for the whole world. The deadly virus spread worldwide from Wuhan, China, last December. It has already claimed the lives of millions of people worldwide. The wheel of the world economy has stopped.
Developed countries in Europe and America are struggling to cope with the virus. However, China, the epicenter of the virus, has successfully set a precedent for the rest of the world. The World Health Organization has also advised the affected countries to follow China's lead.
China's success is due to the imposition of a state of emergency and the complete lockdown of sources, adequate testing and the construction of emergency hospitals and uninterrupted health care. China has set a unique example in dealing with coronavirus.
It is possible to prevent the spread of the disease by providing treatment to the infected and ensuring social distance between people across the country. In a developing country like ours, we have to deal with the wheel of the economy. The following are some of the things that can be done in the future to deal with Corona Mokebila.
A. Not enough tests
The first step in corona prevention is to diagnose the disease and provide the necessary treatment to the infected person separately. The number of tests in our country is still much less than required. To increase the number of tests, we can import sufficient amount of test kits from China, both public and private, and arrange for the necessary technical training.
B. China-Bangladesh joint corona hospital built
China can do anything fast. They have already kept the evidence. A joint venture between China and Bangladesh could set up an emergency hospital similar to the one built in Uhan for the treatment of the growing coronavirus in Bangladesh.
C. Taking advantage of Chinese-made vaccines
According to recent media reports, Beijing-based research firm Cineva will develop and deliver a highly effective vaccine. We should take advantage of this vaccine first of all by enhancing friendly relations with China.
D. Accepting China's cooperation
China has supplied medicine with expert teams and equipment to several countries, including Italy, the Philippines and Spain. Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina of all possible cooperation with Bangladesh to prevent Corona. China has already sent a team of medical supplies and experts to deal with the situation in Corona. Now we have to take all these advantages from China and move forward to prevent corona.
E. Ensuring proper social distance
Awareness among the people of our country is relatively low. In addition to ensuring social distance and raising public awareness among people at all levels, there is a need for strict legislation and a strong position of law enforcement.
F. Increasing ICU and ventilator facilities in hospitals
Hospitals need to increase the number of ICU beds with adequate ventilator facilities to cope with the corona epidemic. Ventilators are very effective in saving the lives of patients whose infections are very serious. Several companies in our country have started manufacturing ventilators. Even then, two-and-a-half thousand standard ventilators have to be imported from China as a matter of urgency and delivered to the hospital for corona treatment.
G. Tax exemption in pharmaceutical industry
I urge the Government of Bangladesh to encourage local pharmaceutical companies to develop coronaviruses and vaccines through all types of tax exemptions. At the same time, the government should keep a close watch on the post-production period. So that only those hospitals which are engaged in providing corona services are provided with these vaccines.
Our country is moving forward under the dynamic leadership of the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He is taking various initiatives and giving the right direction to deal with Corona. Like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his daughter has also engaged herself in human welfare.
