Zaheer Raihan was born on 19 August 1935 in the village of Majupur in Feni district. His real name is Mohammad Zahirullah. He graduated from Bengal University in 1958 with a degree in Bengali. Zaheer Raihan gained fame as a short storyteller and novelist. He is basically a figure of middle class life. Images of happiness, sorrow and joy and sorrow of the people around him have enriched his writings. His voice was also strong against various inequalities and inconsistencies in the society. For thousands of years, Ice Glacier River, Last Afternoon Girl, Another Falgun etc. are his notable novels. Zaheer Raihan is also known as a famous filmmaker of Bangladesh. He went missing and was martyred on 30 January 1972, shortly after Bangladesh's victory in the War of Independence. His body was not found.
