Sukumar Roy is a favorite name among children and teenage readers. He will always be remembered for his nonsense and other comparable writings. Sukumar Roy is the son of famous children's writer Upendrakishore Roy Chowdhury and father of famous children's writer Satyajit Ray. Sukumar Roy was born on 30 October 1887 in the village of Mashua in Mymensingh district. Sukumar Roy was a man of many talents. On the one hand, he studied science, photography and printing engineering, on the other hand, he showed basic talent and creative energy in rhyme writing and drawing. He also acted in the play 'Goraya Galad' with Rabindranath and Abanindranath. While studying at Presidency College, he founded a strange club called 'Nonsense Club'. And his compositions are also strange and funny. Sukumar Roy has edited the famous 'Sandesh' magazine several times. Sukumar Roy's literary genius was fully developed at that time. Sukumar Roy has become immortal in Bengali literature mainly for writing children's poems like Kheyal Ross, comedy stories, plays etc. Everyone, young and old, enjoyed reading his writings. Sukumar Roy died on 9th September 1923.
