S. Wazed Ali

In the village of Baratajpur, Serampore, Hooghly district, on September 4, 1890, S. Wazed Ali was born. His father Sheikh Belayet Ali was a businessman by profession. After passing the entrance examination with a gold medal from Mokhar High School in Shillong, he passed IA from Aligarh College and BA from Allahabad University in 1910. He obtained his Bar at-Law degree from Cambridge University in 1915 and started his legal career in the Calcutta High Court. In 1923, he was appointed Calcutta Presidency Magistrate. In 1925 he was elected president of the Bengal Muslim Association. In the pursuit of truth and beauty, his literary work is rich in elegant taste and pure sense of humor in the breathless glory of ethics, religion and love.In fact, S. Wazed Ali was a scholar who believed in Bengali nationalism. He died on 10 June 1951 in Calcutta.
